Morris council holds meeting Morris Township council met on the morning of August 17 to complete several items of busi­ ness. Third and final reading was given and a by-law passed to allow for the construction of the Black­ hall Drain, North and South Branches, with tenders to be opened on August 23. The Court of Revision for the Nichol Drain will date, to become effective January 1,1989. A letter from the Huron Real Estate Board requesting the purchase of an assessment roll microfiche was also presented, and will also be discussed further at a later date. The rental agreement between council and the tenants at the old township shed was discussed, resulting in the passing of a motion that the present tenants be given a notice of eviction effective Septem- ber 30, as a result of being in arrears. The next Morris Twp. council meeting will be held on August 23, starting at 7:30 p.m. Councillors Howie Morton and Bob Grasby will not be in attendance at that time. Clerk-treasurer Nancy Michie reported that Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) approval had been given for the Blackhall Drain project; this was necessary since work on the drain will extend beyond the term of the present council. Chief Building Official Leo Sanders was presentto present recommendations for several building permits; Mr. Sanders also discussed forwarding approval for severance to the Huron County Planning Department for Lot 12, Concession 6. Council said it would prefer that more work be done on the property first. Building permits were approved for the following: for Bodmin Ltd. for the construction of a swine barn on Lot 11, Concession 5; for Ross Nicholfor a sun porch on Lot 26, Concession 6; for Bert Hastings for a granary on Lot 9, Concession 2; for Betty Kelly for a carport on Lot 6, Concession 7; andforCreg Duck for a mobile home on Lot 1, Concession 4. The permit for Mr. Duck was restricted to a three-year limit since a land use permit from the Ministry of Transportation and Communicatios is in effect on the property for that length of time. Township wages were discuss­ ed, and will be finalized at a later PTE. MIKE VADER Pie. Mike Vader graduated from Canadian Forces Recruit School at C.F.B. Cornwallis, Nova Scotia on August 18,1988. He was among 105 recruits participating in a very impressive ceremony. Pte. Vader reports to Base Borden, Ontario to further his training. Mike is the son of Jack and Anne Vader, who along with Lori Willie, travelled east to attend the graduation. Hospitals get grants Several provincial grants to Huron County have been approv­ ed. Minister of Health Elinor Caplin has recently approved an annual operating grant for Clinton Public Hospital in the amount of $109,800 for the new obstetrical wing. Seaforth Community Hospital has been advised of approval from the Ministry of Health of a capital grant up to a maximum of $1.4 million. Minister of Housing Chaviva Hosek has recently announced Ontario Home Renewal Program grants to the following municipals ties: to Turnberry Township, Seaforth, and Howick Township, $40,000 each; to the town of Clinton, $30,000.
