Wawanosh Trustees James Schneider and Allan Craig of the Police Village of Auburn attended the August 2 meeting of West Wawanosh Town­ ship council to witness the opening of tenders for the construction of sidewalks in Auburn. The bid of Gary Smith was accepted for the work, subject to a $1,500 reduction in price on the condition that the township re­ move the old pavement and providefillforlevellingthe new walks. \ Building permits were approved for D. Cameron for a building extension; and to Noah D. Stutz­ man for the construction of a house. In addition, a by-law was passed to approve tile drainage loans to A. Chisholm and J. Tiesma. The Lucknow and District Fire Committee’s proposed budget for 1988 was approved by council; and clerk-treasurer Joan Armstrong was authorized to pay general accounts totalling $15,421.69 and road accou nts totalling $54,229.74. In addition, Mrs. Thompson was authorized to apply to the Ontario Minister of Housing on behalf of the township for an Ontario Home Renewal Program (OHRP) grant. Mrs. Thompson was also authoriz­ ed to purchase a copy of the book ‘‘Fences and the Law” for the municipal office, and to write to Bonnie Hodges in response to her request for a street light near her home in Dungannon. Road superintendent George Humphrey was authorized to have mulch laid beside the site of the new council chamber, which is presently under construction. The next meeting of West Wawanosh Township council will be held on September 6, starting at 7:30 p.m. Knox United plans hymn sing Sunday Rev. Dave Snihur conducted the morning service at Knox United Church and Nancy Park was the organist. Call to Worship was read alternately followed by the hymn, “When morning guilds the skies”. Rev. Snihur gave the Prayer of Approach, followed by the Lord’s Prayer in unison. The announcements were given. The children’s song was sung by the adults entitled, ‘‘Surprise, Surprise” and Rev. Snihur gave th story. “Sweet Hour of Prayer” was sung. A hymn was chosen and sung entitled, “There is Sunshine in my Soul”. Scriptures from Corin­ thians and Revelation were read by Rev. Snihur followed by the prayer chorus, ‘‘Have Thine Own Way /ZH J V S '*• M w Lord.” Rev. Snihur gave the Prayers of Thanksgiving and Concern. The ■ minister’s sermon was entitled ‘‘The Fragrances of God: Part II, the Incense of Prayer”. The offering was received by Peter Verbeek and Greg Park and dedicated, followed by the offera- tory response “We give Thee but Thine Own.” The hymn, “What a friendwe have inJesus”was sung. The minister pronounced the Benediction followed by the Bene­ diction Response. ‘‘Reach out, Reach Out To Others” ended the service. Next Sunday will have an early hymn-sing. Rev. Auburn community extends sympathy Sympathy is extended to Louise Brindley and family and relatives on the death of her husband Russel who passed away suddenly in his 79th year.
