On behalf of the Grade 8
Graduates we would like to
welcome all teachers, parents and
special guests. And if you don’t fit
into any of those categories we
welcome you too!
Imagine it is September 6, 1979.
What about going on a big yellow
bus or were afraid about arriving at
a strange place with strange
people. Well we all made it through
Kindergarten with help of our
teacher. Thatyearwas our first
graduation and little did we know
that the time would fly quickly and
we would be here tonight.
As we went on in the years we
learned important steps like the
three R’s. That NOT rioting,
recking and restling but readin,’
‘righin’ and ‘rithmetic. We went
from addition and substraction to
multiplication and division and
printing to writing.
By grade three we started to
learn a second language, French.
We were introduced to colours,
animals, numbers and many other
different words. Through the years
wehavelearned ALOT offrench
and we are almost skilled french
men.
En troisieme annee, nous com-
mencon a apprendre une deuxieme
langue, le Francais. Nous appre-
nons beaucoup de Francais et nous
sommes presque des experts en
Francais.
The senior grades flew by
quickly for there was much to do.
By grade 6 we began joining sports
teams like two-pitch and soccer.
Grade seven proved to be a fun
and fulfilling year for there was
only one year left to go.
Now I imagine it is September 7„
1987 and we’re just starting our
last year of public school. This last
year has been a lot of fun and full of
excitement.
We have certainly grown and
learned a lot since the first day of
Kindergarten in 1979. If we hadn’t
gonetoschoolfor the pastyears
just think where we would be right
now.
None of us know what is ahead
for us in our futures but if we all
follow our dreams they might come
true. For all we know you could be
the nextPrime Minister or even
Michael J. Fox.
Our life is just a continuous
ladder and we all are climbing the
rungs. This ladder is always being
climbed whether you are a baby,
teen, or adult. Some very import
ant steps or decisions will have to
be made regarding our futures. As
you go through the years to high
school to college or university the
ladder just gets easier to climb and
we are sure as we all go our
separate ways the public school
years will be remembered fondly.
In closing we wish to leave you
with some advice, that we can all
carry into the future.
“If you think you are beaten, you
are:
Ifyou think you’ll lose, you’ve lost,
For out in the world you’ll find
Success begins with a fellow’s will,
It’s all in the state of mind.’’
