Bulls complete season with gala awards banquet BY LOIS Me ARTER The Bulls hockey team complet­ ed their season on Friday night with their annual Banquet and Awards night. Approximately 100 people enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner catered by the B.M.G. catering ladies. Joe Steffler, President of the 87-88 executive was spokesman for the evening. Neil McGavin thanked the ladies on be ha If of players and parents present for the meal they had prepared and served. Joe then introduced the executive and those involved in helping the team for the season, Brian and Marlene (secre­ tary) Rutledge; Ray (director) and Linda Gingerich; Brian (past presi­ dent) and Dianne Huether (trea­ surer); Joe (president and coach) and Lynn Steffler; Jim (director) and Barb Fritz; Max Demaray Sports Retiring Bull Kevin McArter was chosen to present retiring Coach and Club President Joe Steffler and his helpmate, Lynn, with a handsome plaque engraved with the names of all the Bulls. Mr. Steffler, who has coached the team for four years, claims he really is retiring this year, but added that the Bulls will never be far from his heart or mind. Lawrie Decorating fastball team comes home again The Lawrie Decorating fastball team from Blyth returns to Blyth this spring after playing the last five years in the Clinton Fastball League. On Tuesday the girls played a strong first half only to lose to Stratford 4-1 in the last half. He was quite pleased with the exceptional way the team got along together this year and felt quite sure some lifetime friendships were formed this year. On Thursday the team played an excellent game but lost 1-0 to St. Marys. Shana Lee Ten Hag made many fantastic saves in goal. Next week the team plays Mitchell on Tuesday and Norwell on Thursday. The “dedicat­ ed Bull award’’ went to Jim Garniss (who never missed a game at home or on the road). Steve Coulter then expressed his appreciation to all involved with making the season a good one. Obituaries MARY ELIZABETH YOUNG Mary Elizabeth Young, RR 1, Blyth died at Clinton Public Hospital April 23,1988 after a short illness. She was born Mary Elizabeth McCall, 81 years ago in Morris Township. She married Archie Young who predeceased her in 1986. She is survived by one son, William, RR 1, Blyth and one daughter, Betty, Mrs. Raymond Lair, Glencoe. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister: James guidance and dedicated hours to the team this season. One sister Harri­ ett Snell predeceased her. She was a member of Blyth United Church. Rev. Lorenzo Ramirez of Blyth United Church conducted the funeral service at the Tasker Funeral Home, Blyth on April 25, 1988. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery. Thank you, they are very much appreciated. The banquet was followed by dancing to Doug and Terry’s D.J. music. During the evening the executive completed their lottery draws. The $50 winners were Delores Wheeler, Brussels; Darryl McMellan, Goderich; Jerry Done­ gan, Gowanstown; Brenda and Barry McCall, RR 3, Listowel; Paul O’Reilly, RR 3, Listowel; with the $1,000 draw going to Jerry Dillow of Stratford, Ontario. formerly of Ridgetown, passed away April 19, 1988 at Wingham and District Hospital in her 72nd year. She was predeceased by her husband, Bert Thompson in 1971. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jean Gaze of London, one sister-in- law Ada Brittain of Brussels, 3 nieces, Mrs. Betty Dwyer of London, Mrs. Shirley Lamond, Catham and Lillian Moses, Brus­ sels. Several great nieces and nephews who survive. Funeral services were held at the McKinley Funeral Home, Ridge­ town, Thursday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m. Burial was in Memorial Gardens, London.
