Brussels councillor Ruth Sauve presents a Village of Brussels lapel pin to Doug Zehr during the open house held at the Brussels municipal office Thursday. To mark local government week Brussels council served coffee and doughnuts during the afternoon and some councillors were on hand to answer questions. Edna McLellan heads Majestic Institute A delicious roastbeef dinner was enjoyed by 32 members and friends of the Majestic Women’s Institute at the Brussels United Church. This was the annual meeting. After dinner, Mrs. Kathy Bridge presided over the business period. The next euchre party will be held on Monday, April 25 in the library, beginning with a casserole supper at 7 p.m. followed by euchre for the cost of $3.50. The proceeds from this euchre party will go to the Canadian Cancer Society. ‘ ‘Thank- you” notes for gifts from the W.I. were read. Mr. Cassis, a health care professional is speaking in the Seaforth Community Centre on May 25, his topic being ‘‘Mental Stress” and on May 26, his topic is ‘ ‘Coping Under Stress”. Everyone is invited to attend. Delegates to represent the Majestic W.I. at the District Annual meeting on May 10 at Moncrief are Mrs. Edna McLellan, Mrs. Ka^hy Bridge, Mrs. Ruth Bauer and Mrs. Ida Evans. Mrs. Marie McTaggart was the recipient of a Life Membership Certificate and pin, presented to her by her two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Lowe and Mrs. Kathy Jacobs, on behalf of the Majestic W.I. Leona also presented gifts to the six 4-H leaders, Mrs. Barb Graber, Mrs. Mary Saunders, Mrs. Peggy Kef­ fer, Mrs. Kathy Bridge, Mrs. Marie Stute and Mrs. Edna McLellan, for their leadership during the year.
