Long-time Blyth resident dies after short illness JAMES HARRY PIERCE James Harry Pierce of Blyth died in Clinton Public Hospital March 17,1988afteranillnessof about three months. He was 62 years of age. He was born in Morris township and attended elementary school in the township before attending Blyth Continuation School. He worked in recent years for the County of Huron Road Depart­ ment. He was a member of Blyth United Church and of the Royal Canadian Legion, Blyth Branch. He married the former Bernice McNall who survives him. Also surviving are two sons, Terry and his wife Debbie of Blyth and Paul of Blyth and two grandchildren Jenn­ ifer and Brendan. Four sisters also survive: Doris, Mrs. James Laidlaw, Blyth; Ethel, Mrs. Syd Adams, Wingham; Darlene, Mrs. Gordon Shobbrook, Londesboro and June, Mrs. Charles Knox, Goderiph. The funeral service was held Marchl9,1988 from the Tasker Funeral Home, Blyth. Rev. Loren- zo Ramirez of the Blyth United Church officiated. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery. Pall­ bearers were Tom Thompson, Mike Mason, Doug Bell and Leslie Dale. Obituaries Brussels resident dies at age 66 EDNA DOROTHY COBB Edna Dorothy Cobb of Brussels died at Clinton Public Hospital on March 19, 1988. She was born in Owen Sound 66 years ago. She was married to Frank Cobb who predeceased her in 1978. Surviving are three daughters: Louise, Mrs. Robert Hallahan, Brampton; Janet, Mrs. Louis Wing, Lakefield; and Joann, Mrs. Charles McKay, Wingham. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Ella Jackson, Kimball, Ont. The funeral service was held from the Tasker Funeral Home, Blyth on March 21, 1988. Rev. Charles Carpentier of Brussels United Church officiated. Inter­ ment was in Blyth Union Ceme­ tery. Her grandsons served as pallbearers. WILLIAM JOHN IRVING William John Irving of Stretton St., Brusselsdiedon March 16, 1988 at Wingham and District Hospital. He was 79 years of age. He was married to Margaret Hill who predeceased him in 1982. Surviving are two sons, Bill of Mitchell and Mel of Brunner, and one daughter Alice, Mrs. Peter Kapsley of Kitchener, as well as 18 grandchildren and four great­ grandchildren. Two sisters, Del Beams of Markdale and Elsie Shaw of Seylon also survive. He was predeceased by one son, Oscar, one daughter, Donna and one sister and one brother. The funeral service was held on March 19, 1988 from the Brussels Chapel of the M.L. Watts Funeral Homes with Rev. Charles Carpen­ tier of Brussels United Church officiating. The interment was in Markdale Cemetery. CHARLES RICHARDSON MERRILL Charles Richardson Merrill of the Summerhill area of Hullett township died suddenly Monday, March 14,1988. He was in his 76th year. Mr. Merrill was the husband of a long-time teacher at Blyth Public School Evelyn Merrill. He suffered a heart attack and died after loading pigs for shipping. He was the father of Ruth, Mrs. Charles Scholey, Agincourt; Mar­ garet, Mrs. Glen Gagan, Lambeth; Janette, Mrs. Doug Henry, Lon­ don; Mary Lyn Merrill, Tofield, Alberta; William and his wife Allana Merrill, Orangeville; Pat, Mrs. Fred Tyndall of London; Wayne and his wife Marie Millian, Barry and his wife Irene Millian, and William and his wife Sherri, all of RR 5, Goderich and Clare Millian, RR 3, Goderich. Twenty- two grandchildren also survive. He was predeceased by his first wife the former Evelyn Wilson. The funeral service was held Friday, March 18, 1988 from the Ball and Falconer Funeral Home, Clinton. Interment was in Clinton cemtery.
