electric •
The demand for elec-
tricity 'in Ontario reaches
its peak early in the evening
on cold winter weekdays.
Between 4 and 7,
everyone's asking for elec-
tricity. Many factories, stores
and offices are still open. •
Street lights are on.The kids
are home/from school, parents
home from work, evening
meals are being prepared. And
the heating system has to
work harder. It all adds up.
Demands for electric-
ity have been •increasing at a
pace that can no longer be
met. The rate of growth must
be reduced. ,
Yoki can help by avoid- '
trig the big jobs like baking,
washing and dryin ig between

KINGSBRIDGE NEWS.
Approximately 110 persons at-
tended the workshop on "Recrea-
tion" held at the Brookside Public
Scho.ol on Monday; November 29th
at 8 p.m. John. Austin of
Kingsbridge was the chairman for
this third workshop. He welcoMed
everyone and expressed how pleas-
ed he was that such an interest
was shown. • He introduced Dan
"'-.Mansell, Wingham District' Man-
ager and Rene Jones, Biologist
with the Ministry of Natural
' Resources. Mr. Mansell explained
the $80,000. fish ladder being
constructed . at Port Albert. The
idea of this ladder is to get the
'rainbow trout spread all along, the
river from Port Albert to Lucknow.
This ladder is being built, rather
than removing the dam blocking
the river in, order to prevent
lamprey eels from working up-•
stream. This ladder area will
include a picnic arta, toilets and a
Viewing area as many people are
interested in watching the fish
jump upstream as in fishing.
Mr. Jones said that most of the
Lucknow system • South of that
village is good for rainbow trout but
many trout eoming in from the, lake
• to spawn cannot get past •the dam
at Port Albert and many, turn back
to the lake for spawning. Many at
this meeting, felt that the efforts by
the Natural Resources Ministry to
improve fishing on the Lucknow
River system may be useless unless
stricter controls are put on com-
mercial fishing near Port Albeit.
The next meeting (the last
meeting before Christmas) will be
held at Brookside on Monday,
December 13. Grant Fairish will
chair the meeting on, "Natural
Environment and Extractive Re-
sources". See you there.
