Mrs. Robt. Finlay opened the meeting with a reading "All You Can".. Then each member present answered the roll call which was "my mother's maiden name and her favourite hymn". The treasurer'gave her report. A collection was taken for ,the blanket fund. We then joined with unit 5 for the , program. Mrs. George Newbold opened the program with a reading "Life Of Our Own" followed by hymn 421. The devotion was given by 'Mrs. Graydon Ritchie ' who read the scripture from Luke 10: 30-37 then gave a reading "My Brother's Keeper". Mrs. Ken Cameron closed the deVotiong with a reading "Will I Pray". We • were favoured by two instrumentals by Kay and Karl Morrison. Mrs. Albert Morning- star gave a reading . "Decisions". Mrs. Stuart Collyer introduced Mrs. Dick Treleaven, a member of unit 4 who shoWed us slides and gave an interesting account.of her trip last February to Cuba. The meeting opened with a sing song, A topic was chosen for the church meeting in December. , Groups were 'then -formed for discussion'. The collection was received and the dedicatory prayer given by Karen Young. On November 14 it was planned to visit Pinecrest Nursing Home and Pinecrest Lodge. David Elliott read the minutes and a letter from the Foster Child. On Friday evening, November 5 a social was being held at Brookside School. Wednesday, November 3rd at '2 p.m. at' the home of Mrs. Wardrop.. Mrs. Cliff Laidlaw was in charge of 'the meeting Christian Mission- ary Education.. She opened the meeting with a meditation. The hymn We have heard a joyful song was sung. Mrs. Fred Tiffin led in prayer. Mr§.• Quipp read the scripture, Matthew 16: 13-20, Mrs. Laidlaw, Mrs. Tiffin. and Mrs. Quipp each gave a short quotation on the Wonder of Jesus. Mrs. Laidlaw read a. story On the life of Albert Switzer; born in Germany 1,875. He became 'an accomplished musician and teach- er. One day he saw the face of an African in a picture. It haunted him to go and help the African -people. At age 30 he went back to University to *tidy medicine. In 1913 he and his wife went' to Africa to set up a Mission Hospital. During the first World War he and his wife were arrested, put in prison. Later when released after gaining health they went back to Africa to continue the work they had started. Later in the afternoon prizes were awarded to Andrew TeRia, Jimmy MacKenzie and Douglas Harris for the best paper bag masks. Prizes for the best• jack-o-lanters went to ' Jimmy Cleaver, Darryl. Robinson and Andrew, TeRai. Darryl Robinson won the game of Musical PURPLE GROVE Thirteen couples attended the O.M.S. International Supper held at the' Community Centre on Mondayevening. The men cooked up a delicious' buffet style meal while their wive's visited and took it easy. The entertainment for the evening was the musical quartette of Charlie 'Lemon, Dennis New- man, Keith Domm and Rev. Clyde. Mrs. Domm and Mrs. Clyde in turn accompanied them on the piano. The men also did the tidying up- and dishes. The 0J.M.S. Little Angela *Collins has been under the weather for the past few days and it is hoped she'll soon be feeling better.
