First Meeting
The Goderich and. District Pro
Life Group has, been adtiVe since
1973 in promoting respect for life at
all stages, especially that' of the
pre-born child, They take in an
area from Kingsbridge, Amberley,
St. Augustine, Goderich, Clinton,
Seaforth, Blyth, St, J eph's and•
surrounding area.
Honorary chairman for the
coming year is Rev. Barz and
Honorary co-chairman is Capt.
Herber, both of Goderich;
The first meeting for the new
year was held at the former St.
Elizabeth's School, Goderich on
November 2. Elected officers are:
past president, Clarice Dalton;
president, Gordon Crabb; vice
president, Con Brand; secretaries,
Betty Frayne and Helen McCarthy;
treasurer, Teresa Courtney. Other
board members are, .Grace 'Austin,
Ken Reidy, Charity McDonald,
Chris Crawley, Pat Howard, Har-
riet Kianzinga, John ()skarn,
Emma Franken and Pat Martin.
Working off the board, on edtication
is Connie Osborn and Dan Murphy.,
Future activities planned are a
garage and auction sale on
November 20, a float in the
Goderich Christmas parade, infor-
mation programs by Connie Osborn
and a variety concert onarch 17.
The hoMetown Intermediate
"C" hockey team has :played. 4
games to date, coming away with 1
win and 3 losses: The opener was
in 'kincardine Where The Lancers
got behind early in the first and lost
out 10 to 3. • •
The second contest, was, against
Harriston• on Sunday, October 31st
and was a more rewarding effort
when Lucknow won 9' to 8. The
final buzzer was welcomed, having
slipped from an 8 to 3 lead after 2
periods.
The third call to battle was in
Port ,Elgin Friday night • and the
Lancers came up short on a 7 to 2
score iri spite of a 'good' effort.
Lucknow had their first game on
home ice Sunday night and after an
even first period ended up losing 8
to 3 to Mitchell. It appeared that
the older veterahs on the Mitchell
squad weren't going to be beaten
by a younger team.
Lucknow has a young team and
have the makings of h lot of future
entertainment for Lucknow sportS
fans.
