Recent visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Leonard Chisholm were
Olive's sister, Mrs. Vivian Read of
Edmonton, and Olive's. nephew,
Leonard Payne and Carol Laughlin
of Ottawa.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Chisholm
moved into their .home on South-
ampton Street on. Saturday. Lynn's
mother, Mrs. Alice' Cloutier visited'
them on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Rick/Park moved to
the 6th concession to the house
formerly owned by' Diane's grand-
mother,, the late Mrs. Vera
Errington. Rick and Diane have
sold their house in Dungannon to
Mr. and Mrs. Greg Jervis, who will
be moving in'this week.
Mrs. Kenneth Weber, Wade,
Eugene and Philip visited her aunt,
Mrs. Mary Bere on .Sunday.
To observe Hallowe'en weekend
some school chums visited each
other to go trick-or-treating togeth-
er. Celia Chandler of Whitechurch
area visited Nancy Sproul; Dwayne
Rivett went to liavid Sproul's; Carl
Sloetjes of near Kintail visited
Jamie Bere.
Many queerly-garbed figures
were to be seen flitting up and
down the village streets on
Saturday evening,' each carrying a,
bag for their "loot" and some also
carrying UNICEF boxes to collect
money for underprivileged children
in other lands. ,It was gratifying 'to
/ see how polite they were' as they
came tapping at the doors to get
their 'treats*.
On Friday evening the young
people from the Dungannon Christ-
. ian Fellowship Church travelled to
Glen Allan to view the film,
"Stranger in MY Forest''., a
dramatic presentation of the gospel
based on a true life story. The
suspense-filled emotion-packed
him was enjOyed by all. This
coming Saturday the young people
will meet to continue their study,

Sunday morning service, Reforma-
tion Sunday was . observed' at
Christian Fellowship Church. '

of fathers' and daughters, Ken

This Week In Ripley

" Last Saturday evening, was
Hallowe'en in the Ripley area as
elsewhere. Tricker Treat night for
the younger folk was favOured with
a nice evening for the annual event
-a trace of a brief drizzle, but then
the overcast sky held back its' rain
till the early hours of Sunday
morning. It is always nice to have
the children come to the homes for
candies. and treats - all dressed up
in their costumes. Many of these
costumes were light coloured which
is a' good thing, although Ripley
was well lighted as it has been in
the past few years.

bazaar and tea held by Huronview

in-law Mrs.. Clark Teal. On •Sunday

Mrs. John Stringer and 'daughter
Erica of Goderich, recently from
'England.
Mrs. JoneS of Bedfordshire;
England arrived by plane at
Toronto Airport recently and, was
met by her son and -his wife, Mr.
and Mrs. Reginald Jones, 'Michael
and Gareth. 'It was her first plane
ride and first visit to Canada. She ,
plans to spend some 'months
with her' son and his family.
Mrs. Howard. Godfrey' has `been
unable to work at. Goderich Nursing
Home for the past two weeks since
injuring her' back' at work. She is
taking therapy treatments.
Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Fowler,
Darrel and Karen , of Parkhill,
visited his parent's, Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. Fowler on Sunday. Mr. and
Mrs. John Finnigan of Wingham
called on Fowler's on Sunday '
evening.

Halloween Party
At Reds Corners
After the youngsters had made
their rounds trick or treating in the
Point Clark area Saturday night, it
was time for the members and
friends of the Amberley-Huron
Snowmobile Club to put' on a
disguise and head for Reid's
Corners Hall.
- Brian Elmslie spun the records
for the'night and at twelve o'clock
the costumes were judged.
Winners were as follows: best
dressed lady was Lynn Thornicroft
as a green monster made from
garbage bags; 'second was Dorothy
Henry as an Arab; best dressed
men were Leroy German as
Deracula and second prize went to
Steve Grieveson as a frogman; best
dressed couples were Doug and
Shirley Blewett, dressed as, Rag-
gety Ann and Raggety Andy and
second prize was won by Bill and
Mary Baxter as a mummie and the
fanner.
Each and every costume was
very unique.
It's the fall of the year that
breaks the backbone of summer.
A week ago the ladies of Knox
Church in Ripley marked the 25th
anniversary of the Ladies Evening
Group. The -wives' 9f two' former
ministers returned to Knox Presby-
terian Church - the church, With the
tall steeple or spire in the west end
Of the village. The following.
account of the Occasion was 'written
by Mrs. Mary (Donnie) MacDonald
of Ripley, .
October 23 and 24 were memor4
able dates for Knox Presbyterian
Church. Evening Group W.M.S. It
was the occasion of their 25th
anniversary.
Many former members came
back for .the occasion. At six p.m.
the ladies sat down to a lovely
banquet. A moment Of silence was
observed in memory of departed
charter members, Mrs. Victoria
Smith and Mrs. Elsie Rutledge.
Copies of a history prepared by.
Mrs. Joy McLean were distributed
to members.
At eight p.m., the afternoon,.
W.M.S. visitors from St. Andrews
and' St. Paul churches and neigh-
bouring groups attended a Thank-
offering meeting. The church was
beautifully decorated for the occa-
sion..The Evening Group present=
ed a historical play based on J. S.
Morr's History "Enduring Wit-
ness". Mrs. Elaine Pollock sang a
beautiful solo "Pass It On".
The Evening Group took' the
entire Sunday service at 11.00 a.m.
Mrs. Elizabeth , MacDonald of
Roseville, Michigan, the person
responsible for organizing the
group, was the special speaker.
The theme of her message, "Two
Seas and .Two Lives", was an
inspiring lesson on, giving ourselv:
es in service to God and' man. Mrs.
'Harriette Rooney of CookstoWn
gave a lovely prayer: -Specil music
was provided by the quartet of

Hallowe'en game. A spooky
Hallowe'en story was read with a
ghost making a guest aPpearance.
After a lunch of sandwiches,
cookies and witches' brew, the
meeting closed with a peanut •_

The Lucknow Brownies held a
Hallc#we'en 'party on Tuesday,
October 26. The girls, who all
brought a friend, arrived at the hall
in costume. Lorna Boyle judged
the costumes with 'the following
results: In the comic' class, first
prize went to Donalda Thompson.
