Meeting five of ' the Happy
'Hemmers was at , Mrs. Lowry's
home. We discussed Achievement
Day again and then worked on our
garments all Monday, October 11
in the afternoon. We had five
sewing Machines so each girl but
one had 'a sewing machine. This
meeting closed with cookies and
refreshments.

Lounging Lassies
On Thursday, October 14 at 7.00
p.m. at the Lucknaw,, Central Public.
School,' the Lounging Lassies, held
their sixth' meeting. .We opened .
with everyone repeating the 4-H
pledge. The _minutes, of the last
meeting were read - by • Betty
Stanley. Everyone answered the -
roll call. We decided that everyone
would find their pictures and We
would have the letters the same,
done in Yellow, We were told-about
the upcoming dance on November
6 with Drumlin playing at W.D.S.S.
We all went to our sewing
machines and worked *on our
outfits.
We closed by repeating the 4-II
creed.
'Leisure' Lavers.
The fourth meeting of the
Kairshea Leisure Lovers was held
on Friday; October 15 at the school
at 4.,00, We opened with' the
pledge followed by the minutes,
The roll call. Was answered by eight
girls.' Mrs. Allan told us about!
binding. Mrs.. MacIntyre deinon-
strated the encloied application of
lace. The remainder of the meeting
was, spent by working on our
garments.•
We ended our meeting with the
motto..

Kernel Kuties
The fourth meeting of the
Kingsbridge Kernal Kuties was
held at the hone of Joanne Van
Osch.
Donna Van Osch' opened the
meeting with the '4-H pledge.. The
7 other members answered the roll
call "My recipe using a ready to eat
cereal". The next meeting is to be
at Mrs. Delores Van Osch's home
on October 19. Linda Swan read
the minutes of the last meeting.
Mrs. Van Osch discussed the
outline of the processing of milling
flour.. Samples of all purpose and
pastry flour were passed around
which we tested.
In group work we made muffins
and judged them on how well they
were made. We closed the meeting
with the 4-H motto.
Sleepy Sewers
WHITECHURCH NEWS
Whitechurch Sleepy Sewers club
held their fourth meeting last
Monday evening, October 11 at the
home, of Mrs. Archie Purdon.
The president Lori Ann Jamieson
opened the meeting with. the 4-H
pledge. Six members answered the
roll call. Clara Milligan read the
minutes of the last meeting. They
diScussed their skit for Achieve-
ment Day. The next meeting will
be held October 18 at the home of
Mrs. Walter Elliott./ .
Mrs.' Elliott, discussed and dem-
onstrated braid and fringe trims.
Mrs. Purdon discussed and demon-
strated binding on knit fabric. In
group 'work they worked 'on their
grments. The meeting was closed
with the 4-H creed.
Sleeping Beauties
The sixth meeting of the Clover
Valley Sleeping BeautieS was held
on Tuesday, October 12, at 7.30
p.m. at Joyce Elph'ick's. We
opened the meeting with the 4-H
pledge. All the members answered
the roll call, Karen Metzger read
the minutes. of the last meeting.
The next 'meeting will be on
Monday, October 25 at 7.30 p.m. at
Joyce. Elph s.
- Discussion and demonstration
was divided into three parts,
namely sewing , in sleeves, hems
and slipstitching and sewing on
buttons.. Mrs. Hamilton demon-
strated sewing in a sleeve using
woven material and the plain seam.
Using a knit fabric was demonstrat-
ed by Mrs. ' Elphick. She also
demonstrated turning up hems on a
knit-fabriC. Mrs. Hamilton showed
how to turn up a •hem' on woven
fabric and how to slipstitch a hem.
Sewing on buttons was shown by
Mrs, Elphick.
In group work we disctissed and
voted on the topic for our skit. for
Achievement Day. We also worked
on our garments. We closed the
meeting with the 4-H motto -
"Learn to do ‘by doing".

The sixth meeting of the St.
Helens Sloppy •StirrerS—was held in
the home of Kim COoke on October
13 at • 7.00. Gingerbread was
demonstrated, by Mrs. Humphrey
and Marian. Raynard assisted her.

Arnold made lemon sauce and
brown sugar sauce. 'The next'
meeting will be on October 27. at-
Maggie MacPherson's home. '"'The.
meeting—closed with the 4-H club

Whitechurch Water meeting was
held Thursday evening, October 14
in WhiteChurch Community Mem-
orial Hall with president Bill Evans

Mr. Evans welcomed all and
asked the secretary, Mrs. Evelyn
Gibb, 'to. read the minutes of last
meeting and of the' special Board of
Directors meeting. The reservoir
was Cleaned out August 26-31. It
was 'decided te flush the lines more
often in summer. There are 3 keys
for the pump house. Bill Evans and
Dave Gibb each have a key and at
present the third one Was unac-
counted fOr.
It was decided on Monday
evening at 7, o'clock that Mrs.
Qibson, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Laid,
law, Mrs. Emerson and Dawson
Craig come tc•the pump, house and
be, shown by Bill Evans how to`" set
the pumps up in ease of fire. All
water signers are asked to put• in
•their own markers for winter, at the
outside shift off Valve. All bills are
to be paid. It' was decided to pay
the 'treasurer Mrs. Kathleen Gib-
scin $15 and the secretary Mrs.
Evelyn Gibb $15 for their services.
There• were 8 in attendance..

Steuer read, the minutes. The
record books are to be handed in by
October 26. For . Achievement Day,
the club has chosen the theme
"Three ways with one cereal"
which Will be a skit. The leaders
went over the Achievement Day
program. Mrs. Barry, Hackett
disCussed with the girls the
Canadian .Pattern for eating and
Foreign type foods for Canadian
meals under meal management.
We made Mexican chili rolls. The
leaders went over the proper way of
meal planning of a day's menu.
