SCHOOL NEWS'
'House, league soccer is progress-
ing at St. Joseph's School, Kings-
bridge, however, inter-school com-
petition is nearing. On Tuesday,:
October, 1'2 the sae .91 is sending
two boy's teams •tn Sacred Heart
School ,,at Winghani to play the
senior ,ancl'' junior teams .'of • that
school. The 'girls' teams shill be
playing' Precious Blood at Exeter,
but are awaiting the -results of the
junior boy's game before arranging
a day as the%boys will then be
playing Exeter in the next round.
Cross country is to be held on
Wednesday, October 20th against
the Goderich and digtriet schools;
but due to the soccer, not so much
emphasis has been placed on this
event. The local S school's, both
public and separate, will as usual
be competing in a soccer tourna-
ment in the town on Saturday,
October 30th.
Joe Mills, one of the HuronPerth
systems new superintendents, was
at the school last Monday, October
4 visiting all' the classrooms and
talking with students and teachers
alike. Mr. Mills emphasized that
special education holds an import-
ant position in the system and
encouraged the teachers to be
aware of the facilities available to

PINETREE
CRESTENETS
By Aubrey Higgins
The Plowing Match seems to be
the big part of every conversation.
,Yes, we were able 'to get up to see
it in two separate bus loads, On two.
different days, - We had a special
permit arid a guide who took us
through the entire tented city and it
was a glorious day for the drive
through countryside'. EveryOne
enjoyed it very much.
This is just one more method in
which Pinecrest does thin& they
• don't have to do for those held in
their care to help theM to get a little.
more out of life. Not only just those
of us who are able to go on' little
trips, but every single one of the
people here get their own kind of
special attention from time to time.
Those. things 'not only take a lot
of time and 'extra 'labour, but show
their kindly feelings and thought-
• fulneSs for someone else's father or
mother, uncle or aunt or whoever
they are.
We all make mistakes. It is
possible that I made one when I
stated that money was the first
reason for building this home. if I
were . right, the management is
proving everyday that • the care of
• each individual is of great import-
ance to theist and maybe even more
than we ever realize. This does not
mean that they are taking any
responsibility away from friends or
relatives, but that it should make
them (the relatives) double their
effort to make life better and more
bearable for those confined to a
home of this type. After. hying in'
one's own 'home for so many years,
and having the ability to live in
perfect freedom, there are so many
little things by word and deed that
help so much to make our people
feel that they are on the outside
looking in, instead of being on the
inside looking out
'One, or rather' two, of the rooms
here that seem to be taken more or
less for granted are our large and
spacious dihing rooms and kitchen.
The dining room is a large bright
cheery room with plate glass
windows all the, way down one side
and ' across one end, with small •
sliding panels for ventilation. The
tables are of heavy 'wooden variety,
square and seating four. They are
placed in two long rows leaving
plenty of room for the serving carts
and. waitresses. Our meals are
served one at a time' on our dinner
plates along with side dishes of
different vegetables when in sea-
son. Bread and beverage are also
served and topped off with a
delicious deSsert. No!, we do not
have T-bone 'steak, second rib pork
chops or lobster tail, (well, hot:Very,
often' that is) but we do get • good
wholesome food placed on our
plates in an appetizing manner that
make's you reach for your fork as
soon as it comes from the kitchen.
The kitchen has so many things of
its own, I will leave it till next week.
