Mr- and Mrs. K. K. Dawson and
s* Mr. and Mrs. Robt, Stothers are
home after a few weeks in the
• West. They motored to Edmonton
where the Dawton's visited, their- ▪ daughter Karen andson-in-law•Mr.
and' .Mrs: John Linton. The
Stothers' 'went on to Vancouyer to
visit . their daughter, .Kathy and
later met DaWson's at Calgary for
the trip home.
Mr. John Young spent last week
in hospital,in London with a kidney
condition., He got home for the
weekend 'but has to go back to
hospital this week.
• Sharon Young is taking a course
in Data Processing at Fanshawe
College.
FUN AND FRIENDSHIP NIGHT
Thee U.C.W. held a Fun and
Friendship .night on Tuesday
evening, in e church basement.
Mrs. Dorothy Pentland was chair-
lady and Welcomed those present.
Mrs; Diane Park led a singsong
accompanied by . Mrs. Judy Mc-
Mtchael at the piano. Mrs. Donna
Alton conducted a humorous
test. Mrs. Emma Rivett gave, a
reading and Mrs. Diane Park sang
"Amazing Grace". Several relay
games were played which allowed
everyone a chance to get involved
in the fun; Winner for having lucky
name tag was Mrs. Fred Schmid;
for having lucky chair The winner
was Mrs. Edna 'Campbell. The
prize for being most recent resident
of Dungannon went to Mrs. Debbie
Henderson. MrS. Pentland intro-
duced the ladies who came to live
in the:village during the past. year,
Mrs. Jack Smith, Mrs. Mitchell,
Mrs. Strong, Mrs. Dowell and Mrs.
Henderson. A delicious lunch was
served and a social time was
enjoyed..: Those who planned and
conducted this program deserve
great credit.

banquet and dance, at the •Ripley-
,Huron Recreation 'Complex on
September 8, h'onouring the con-
testanti who had entered, the
Farmstead "Spruce up Bruce"
contest, in conjunction 'with the
International Ploughing Match.
This event was the "kick off" for
the 1976 International Ploughing
Match,
The Farmstead committee has
been. operating for,over two. years,
,under the capable' ,convenerShip of
Burton Hodgins of Kincardine,
with the aim of cleaning up the
county for the thousands of visitors
expected at the Ploughing Match
near Walkerton this week, Sept-
ember 28. to' October .2.
There were five classes in the
competition and they were: Class 1,
-most improved farmstead; Class 2,
most improved home; Class 3, most
attractive farmstead; Class 4, most
attractive home; Class 5; most
attractive gateway.
The County winners were judged
from the winnerg of each category
from the county's townships.
Judging was done by Dick Goodin
and George Gear, Walkerton.
M.C. for the evening was Harvey
Davis of Dobbinton.

four classes were each presented
with a beautiful silver tea service..
They were Class 1, presented •by
Andy McTavish for Stewart Seeds,
Ailsa Craig, given to Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence McGillivray, Arran Town-

121st ANNIVERSARY'
Rev. Stanley McDonald' of Lond-
esboro ' was guest speaker at the.
121st anniversary service in Dun-
gannon United, Church on Sunday.
He gave an inspiring address On
the topic, "Our Church". The
choir sang, "Listen to our holy
song", accompanied by Mrs.. Judy
McMichael. Mr. Wm. Stiles of
Goderich sang two ' solos, "0
Maiter let me walk with Thee" and
"Oh Jesus I have promised".
Beautiful, flower • arrangements
were placed in the 'church by Mrs.
Ettabelle Bradley in memory of her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herb
Alton.

at Christian Fellowship Churth's
• Family Night on Friday evening.
The church basement was filled
with 'games for everyone.

On Saturday afternoon, the
Young People of Christian Fellow-
ship Church completed digging and
bagging their potatoes nn the
Wagler farm. They appreciated
the delicious meal provided by
Mrs. Wagler. The potatoes are
being sold to raise money for' a
mission project. Anyone interested
in getting potatoes may call Mr.
Peter Martin, Dungannon.
On Sunday student Pastor Doug
Zehr delivered the message,
"Serving Christ".
Parkie Wiggins found a potato in
his patch that resembles a turtle. It
was displayed in the Post Office,
last week and was shown at the
Fail.
