There are thirty-three children in
the Grade Three-Four class this
year. Twenty-three are boys and
ten are girls. Melody Mearow is a
newcomer to the class and the
school this year. Mrs. Peterbaugh
is the teacher. ,, The pupils ate all
looking fonvarcl to the RipleyHuron
Fair and the Ploughing Match.
GRADE ONE-
We welcome 'Stephanie Clelland,
and Vincent Wright to our class of
thirty Grade Ones this September.
We are trying to learn the rules and
follow instrustions.

We welcome Lori. Roberts and
'David Cushnie to our class of

Brenda Moran .and Stephen Wylds
at Ashfield Presbyterian Church.
All members of the Warren Wylds
family spent the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Wylds.
It was back to school' this week
for Ken Farrish, who, is attending
University in Boston, U.S.A. David
Farrish is now living in New York,
Where he will be playing hockey
this winter.
Finlay MacDonald spent a few
days in Chatham recently repre-
senting Ashfield' Council at a
meeting there.
Recent visitors with Mr.' and
Mrs. Gordon Finlayson were Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Emberlin of
Toronto, Mr. °and Mrs., John
Finlayson of Mexico, Mr. and Mrs.

Cyril Marsh of Dutton visited in
the community and with Mr. and
Mrs. Oliver McCharles, where he
had made his first home 46 years
ago when he came from England as
a young lad to work for Oliver and
his mother following the death of
Mr. McCharles.
Jim .Bradley is home 'from
hospital again and is fortunate that
his accident was not :as serious as at,
first thought. He was hurt by, a
cattle beast he was dOctoring.
Rod MacLennan of Detroit was a
recent/visitor with, Frank MacLen-
nan. Mrs'. Frank, MacLennan, who
was, visiting in the. British. Isles,
returned home' On the weekend.

N.F.U. display at this year's
International Plowing Match, being
held 2112 miles west of Walkerton in
Bruce County, September 28: to
October 2nd. " . •
Lorne. Luther, director of District
5, will be assisting with members
from, his District. A slide show will
be presented almbst, continuously
in the tent. A national officer will
be in attendance to discuss farm
policy with those who visit the tent.
The U.A.W. says that General
Motors profit for the first half of
1976 reOresented 'a 336 Per cent
increase over the first half of 1975.
General Motors had world wide
sales Of $35.7 billion, and if its
record profits were measured in
terms of dollar bills placed end to
end, it would reach three , times,
around the earth's circumference
at the equator.
The U.k.W. Newsletter reports
that General Motors top officials
doubled their pay cheques with the.
resumption of bonuses. It says that
chairman Thomas Murphy received
$575,000 in 1975, including $275,-
000 in bonuses.

The Goderich Township Wom
en's Institute volunteers assisted-
with Monday afternoon's activities
of old tyme music, dancing and ,a
sing-a-long. The music was
provided by Molly Cox, Mrs.
Driver and Norman Speir. Two
new residents, Mrs. Bert, Finlay
and Charlie Ruffell of Goderich,
were welcomed to the Home
Rev. Carl De Boor, who is home
on furlough from a Baptist Mission
in Japan, provided the Family
Night program with music, colour-
ed slides and a • very interesting
commentary.sg. Rev. De , Boor left
Canada four years ago to serve as a
missionary. in Japan along with his
wife Whilemena and four children
Jackie, Raynart, John and Aleida.
Mr. De Boor led a sing song of
familiar hyinns and sang some solo
numbers in three languages Eng-
lish, Dutch and Japanese. •
Incidently, ,Whilemena De Boor is
the daughter of Mrs. Heyink, one
of our residents. Mrs: Valkenburg,
a personal friend of the . family,,
thanked Carl De Boor on behalf of
the residents.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Bernard who celebrated their
fifty-eighth wedding anniversary
on September 24th.
