Church, Kitchener was the scene
on Saturday, August 14, for the
double ring ceremony at which
Rev. John Rhodes united in
marriage-Barbara Jean Preiss--and.
Peter Anthony Lackenbauer, both
of Kitchener.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Guest and the
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Lackenbauer. '
The bride was given in marriage
by her stepfather, Fred •Guest.
She chose her gown in snowy
white crepe and silk, high ruffled
neck with. empire waist and flowing
train attached. The bottom of the
dress, the edge of the train and the
cuffs of her puffed bell sleeves
were trimmed with ruffles. Her
headdress, veil and gown were
trimmed with matching lace of
daisies. Her bouquet was made of
red sweetheart roses backed with

Fall Fair president and 1st vice
president is Don Bell of Kinloss.
Herb Wilkins of Ashfield is second
vice and Ross and 'Elaine Errington
, of St. Helens .are the secretary-
treasurers of the organization.
Mrs. Bob (June) Gilchrist of
Kinloss is president of• the" ladies'
division of 'the fair.
Saturday's parade was an excep-
tionally good one, and, it continues
to amaze residents of much larger
surrounding towns how the Luck-
now Fall Fair parade can continue
to be so good, year after year.'
The Lucknow Concert Band and
the Teeswater, Pipe Band provided
the parade music and provided
several numbers on 'the grounds.

afternoon and as Federal, Member
of Parliament for Bruce-Grey, 'he
brought. greetings to his constitu-
ents.
Riding in the Fair parade were
Miss Dominion of Canada and,,.all .
entries in the Miss Midwestern
Ontario Beauty Contest from towns
around. The Canadettes from
Wingham, a baton. twirling group,
also performed in the Fair parade.
Speaking at the, opening were
Reeyes George Joynt of Lucknow;
Leo Murray of Xinloss, Warren
Zinn of Ashfield and Bob Lyons of
West Wawanosh. -Also speaking
briefly were Warden Alex 'Lamont
of Bruce Connty, Murray Gaunt,
M.P.P. • for Huron-Bruce; ' Bob
McKinley, M.P. for Huron-Middle-
sex; Russel Itvin, president of the
Agricultural Society and Arthur
Peppin, assistant direetor of the
Ontario Association of Agricultural
Societits, who officially opened the
Fair.
Each of-the girls entered in the
Miss/ Midwestern. Ontario Beauty
Contest was introduced and spoke
to the audience. .
Miss Dominion 'of Canada,
Pamela Mercer of Burnaby, British
Columbia, spoke to the crowd.
The Agricultural Society food
booths, operated by volunteers
from the 'community under the
direction of the Fair Board, were
very busy and the venture was
quite successful. There 'was` a
booth inside the arena and, outside
on the grounds.
The rideS kept the children busy. .
and the Lucknow Co-op dunking
tank,..Which earned about $240 for
minor sports in the community,
never let all afternoon. Various
individuals from the Co-op and
community took turns getting wet
throughout the day.
Outside entertainment through-
ont the • afternoon was provided by
the Bradley family of Clinton.
About 600 people attended the
evening performance in the Luck-
now arena preceding the .crowning
of Miss Midwestern Ontario.' - The
Leahy family 'of' Lakefield, near
Peterborough, provided the pro-
gram and this musical family' had
toes a !tapping with their step
dancing, fiddling and songs. The
family act included mom and dad
and five children ages 12, 11, 10, 9
and 8.
Ray McNeilly of Bobcaygeon was
master of ceremonies and addition-
al music was provided by accord-
ianists Norman Quigley a,ndohis son
Greg of Norwood.
The appearance of the Leahy
-family at the Lucknow Fair had
spedial -Significance in that Frank '
Leahy is 'a brother of Dr. Phil Leahy
of Teeswater... The Teeswa.ter
Leahy family have a musical talent
as well and Frank, and Betty Anne
Leahy, daughter of Dr. and Mrs
Phil Leahy, did a guest appearance,
on the show with Betty Anne on the
pianO and Frank on the violin.
At intermission time, Russel
Irvin, Fair • president, expressed
thanks to all those who had
contributed to the Fair's success, to
the officers and to Charles Web-
ster, for his part in arranging the
Miss Midwestern Ontario contest.
Murray Gaunt was asked to
make a draw for the West Huron
Junior Parmers and its president,
' Dixie .Cameron. A $15 voucher,
donated by the Junior Farmers and
good .at Charman's ClOthing, was
won by Jamie Hackett of Ashfield.
Mrs. Joe Courtney of Ashfield won
second, a $10 voucher donated by
Ch arman s.
The final part of the evening was
the Miss Midwestern Ontario
, Beauty Contest, with Bob Finlay as
master of ceremonies. , A story on

Lackenbauer, Kitchener and Mrs.
Nada Stampar, Kitchener. and ,
flower girl Lori Lackenbauer,
daughter of , Linda Lackenbauer.
All the attendant's gowns were
made of yellow polyester. Their
bouquets were made of white
daisies, yellow carnations and
yellow gladioli sprouts and green
fernery. The flower girl's bouquet
was in a white basket with yellow
daisies and white baby's breath.
Groomsman was Jim Gies. The
ushers were Steve Leis and Paul
Preiss, brother of the bride. The .
groom and his attendants wore
black (Windsors). The groom wore
a white carnation with white' shirt
and ruffles trimmed with, black.
The groomsman and ushers wore
yellow carnations with,yellow shirts
and ruffles trimmed with black.
The wedding reception was in
the Kitchener area.
The bride's mother wore a*
sleeveless floor-length gown made
of blue polyester. She wore a
corsage of yellow orchid and ribbon ,
with' green fernery. -
The groom's , 'mother chose a
floor-length gown with a long
sleeve jacket of green polyester.
Her corsage was yellow orchid and
ribbiin and green fernery.
The couple homeymooned in
Florida. They are residing in
Kitchener.
