Married In Ashfield Church
Ashfield Presbyterian Church,
decorated with , candelabra with
yellow daisies, was the setting for
the wedding of Brenda May
MacLennan and .Caineron Graham
Cook on Saturday, July 3rd.
The bride is a , daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Bayne MacLennan of R.
R. 3 Goderich. The groom is a son
Of Mr. and Mrs. Graham Cook of
Ripley.
Rev. Richard Sand of Ripley
officiated at the double ring
ceremony.
The bride was given in 'marriage
by her father. She wore a white
floor-length gown of alencon lace
with daisy trim around the *empire
waist, adrianne neckline,' long
Bishop sleeves. The gown had a
long floating skirt with ruffled
bottom and long matching cathed-
ral train also trimmed with daisies.
Her head-piece of daisies held her
matching veil. She carried a
bouquet of red' roses, white
carnations, baby's 'breath and
green ivy.'
Matron of honour was. Mrs. Ken
MacLennan of Ashfield, sister of
the groom. She Wore a floor-length
blue , flocked, gown with taffeta
underskirt, in Victorian style with
ruffled bottom. She carried 'a
parasol with yellow daisies decorat-
ing the handle.
Bridesmaids were Lorraine Mac-
Donald of Ashfield, cousin 'of the
bride; Janet Rotteau of Point
Clark, friend• of the ,bride; Helen
Cook of Ripley, sister of the groom;
Karen MacLennan of Ashfield,
sister "of the bride. They wore
gowns styled identical to the
matron of honour, in colours of
peach, green, yellow and , mauve,
respectively. They carried similar
parasols.
Flower girl was Bobbi-Lynn.
MacArthur of R. R. 5 Kincardine,
cousin of the groom. She wore a
gown styled identical to the other
attendants in pink colour and
carried a ' parasol with, yellow
daisies on the • handle.
Ringbearer was Christopher
MacLennan of Ashfield, nephew of
the 'groom.
Groomsman. was Gary Walden of
Ripley, friend •of the grown.
Ushers were Kevin Cook of
Ripley, brother of the groom; Alec
MacLennan and Donald MacLen-
nan, both of Ashfield and brothers
of the bride; David Cook of Ripley,
brother of the groom.
The groom and ringbeiret wore
powd-blue swan tailed tuxedos.
• His ifiendants wore tuxedos of
powder-blue with matching navy
vest and slacks.
Organist was Mrs. • Duncan
Simpson. Soloist Marianne Frayne
sang "The Wedding" and "An-
nie's Song".
A dinner and reception followed
at Saltford Valley Hall with music
by Star Trex.
• The bride's mother chose a
floor-length gown of mint green
double knit with corsage of white
baby .roses.
The groOtrirs mother r wore a
floor-length sleeveless gown of
yellow double knit with corsage of
White baby roses.
The bride and groom's travelling
costumes were blue satin blouses
with co-ordinating slacks.
The couple are residing at R. R. 3,
LucknOw. The groom is employed
at construction in. Ripley. The
bride is employed with. Genesco of
Canada, Seaforth.
Honoured guests at the wedding
were grandparents, Mrs. Nellie
MacLeod of Ripley, Earl MCDonald
of Lucknow, Mr. and Mrs. 'Harry
Cook of Belgrave.
Guests were present from Ash-
field, Ripley, Toronto, _Niagara
Falls,' Scotland and surrounding
area. .
-Prior to her marriage the bride
was honoured with bridal showerS,
a community shower, .a friend
shower at the home of Mrs. Ken
MacLennan, R. R. Goderich and
a friend shower by Shiela Sinnett
and Cathy Simpson at the home of
Shiela Sinnett, R. R. 7 Lucknow.
School Starts On
Tuesday Morning.
KINGSBRIDGE NEWS
With 'the Labour Day Holiday
weekend and the opening of
schools on. Tuesday, September 7,
many of the summer cottagers have
returned to their homes in the city.
At. St. Joseph's School, Kings-
bridge there were 126 pupils
registered for classes on Tuesday
morning with .11 Kindergarten
pupils who will attend school for
the' first • time on Wednesday
morning.
