Mr. and, Mrs. mas Burns,
Of Lucknow maned their 59th
wedding anniversary on June 2nd.
They had both observed their 88th
birthday in May.
The Catholic Women's League, of
St. Joseph's Church, Kingsbridge,
was awarded a $100 prize in the
national quilt-makhig contest spon-
•sored by the Toronto Star Weekly:
It was an original quilt carrying out
the motif, "Canada Land • of
Progress".
Three dumping areas were
established in Ashfield Township.
Work was underway to widen
and hard surface the 9th concession
of A.shfield.

A block of land in Kinloss
Township, 1% mileS square ex-
tending from the 4th to the 6th
concessions, and .from the gravel
road eastward a like distance, was
known as the "Kinloss Crown
Game Preserve". It took in
approximately 1000 acres. Among
the owners of farm lands included
in this preServe Were Allister
Hughes, George Lockhart, Tyndal
Robinson, Angus Graham, John A.
McKenzie and J. A. McKinnon.
John • R. RIM, teller in the_
Auburn-Dungannon branches- of
the Canadian Bank of Commerce,
held .the first prize ticket on the
Grand National conducted by the
Quebecc unit of the Army and. Navy
Veterans in Canada, which netted
him $30,000. He had sold himself
the winning ticket, so helot the
commission that went to the seller
which amounted -to an additional
$1089.94.'

away June 23rd,° in Stilwater,
Oklahoma; following • a recent
operation. Reverend Green was
minister of St. Helen's United
Church, for, many years. Following
his retirement he and his , wife
remained in thevillage. Interment
Was in .Oklahoma' U.S.A.
St, Helen's - -Calvin—United
Church held special services on
Sunday for the children of the
congregation to receive their at-
tendance pins for Sunday School.
A luncheon followed the ,Service.
Mr. and Mrs'. Hugh Todd and
Mr. and Mrs. John Siecker and
family attended the wedding of
John Byrnes and Christina Van .der
Hulst in. Toronto. • An error was
made 'in last week's paper when
they attended the wedding of Rina
Van der Hulst and John Bick..
Following the wedding they visited
with the Van der: Hulst family in
Barrie.
BRIDAL SHOWER
A bridal shower was held. for
Debbie Errington at the home of
Mrs. Caroline Phillips of Goderich.
The shower was for the groom's
relatives to honour the occasion.
The bride's party was most
unfortunate in having a flat tire
while on • route to the special
occasion.
Mrs. Helen Todd was an
out-patient in the Wingham Hosp-
ital when she sprained her ankle in
an accident at home.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Maclntyre
were weekend visitors with Miss
Isobel Miller, Mrs. Helen Todd and
Miss W. D. Rutherford.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Todd and
Mrs. Verdun Ducharme visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Aldis Makouskis
of Willowdale.
25th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
The, Wiibee Orchestra helped
many neighbours, friends, , and
relatives honour the occasion of
Mr. and • Mrs. Ross Errington:s
25th wedding anniversary on
Saturday night in the Lucknow
arena. Although a cool night a
most enjoyable time was had by all.
Following the .dance the couple
were presented with gifts by Ross'
brother, Harold' Errington, and the
bride's brother-in-law, Earl Gray,
North Bay. Lunch. followed the
dancing:.
SOCIAL EVENING
The secretarial Staff of Goodall
and Campbell gathered together at
the home of Mrs. Wayne Todd to
honour Debbie Errington on her
'forthcoming 'marriage to Bob
McGillivray, Following a cold plate
supper the guests played games,
Debbie opened her gifts and
'thanked everyone. A community
shower will be held July 14th at St.
Helens Hall. I
Wilkins Picnic
At Brookside
The , Wilkins gamily picnic was
held 'on' July 4t4 at Brookside
School with 61 attending. Charlie
and Mayme Wilkins hadAnst lately
returned from England and Scot-
land and had an album of coloured
pictures on display. Visiting was
the theme of the day till supper was
served at '4 p.m. -
Grama Wilkins asked the bless-
ing and 'president Howird Carlau
congratulated her on her 85th
birthday and thanked Mayme
Wilkins for making such a lovely
birthday cake. Grace Wilkins had
some prizes - the family corning the
farthest, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weaver
of Chelmsford north of Sudbury;
birthday nearest picnic, Janet
Wilkins;, man with largest shoes,
Bert Alton; lady with the smallest
shoes, .Grama ,Wilkins; man wear-
ing a tie, no, one; 'lady not wearing
her wedding ring; Mary Cotrill;
guessing the ' number of coloured ,
macaroni in the jar, Mrs. Charlie
Wilkins.
'Winners in the races were as

Alton; kick the slipper, girls

scramble for candy ended the fun.

is to assist girls in gaining an
appreciation of their opportunities
and responsibilities as individuals,
members of a club, a community
'and as Canadian citizens. This
Conference will encourage mem-
bers to share their ideas and
broaden their experiendes by
meeting• with club members from
across the province. A program
has been planned to include special
speaker S, exhibits, denionstrations
and participation of club, girls in
discussion groups,
vice president and. Donald Alton as
2nd vice president. The picnic for
1971 will be held at BrookSide
School, the first Sunday in July.
Sherry Alton will make a birthday
cake for Grama next:year. As we,
shook hands on leaving, we wished
everyone a safe journey home
and hoped we would see everyone
next year.
