For. Rosalie-
The following -bit of news was
received from Rosalie (Macintyre)
Lovell who had, the unusual.
pleasure of receiving an engage-
ment ring , while ill in Victoria:
Hospital.
To make • the event more of a
special one, Mrs. Oliver (Marion)
McCharles, also a patient in
Victoria for some time, thoughtful-
ly used a home-made chocolate
cake to throw an engagement party,
for Rosalie.
The following note from ,Rosalie
indicates how she• appreciated the
gesture by Marion.
"Anything can ha7pen tonight,
April 16,' 1976,' laying here in
Victoria Hospital, recovering from,
an illness, - to my surprise, I
received my engagement , ring.
Soon the news spread Along from
room to room and more to my
surprise was 'a' gesture by Mrs.
Oliver McCharles, a few 'rooms
away, who had been given a
home-made chocolate cake made
by her daughter-in-law, and which
was for a. treat to the nurses on
duty.
When Mrs. McCharles found out
I was Annie Maclntyre's grand-
datighter, she suggested an' en-
gagement party and so everyone
who could, joined in my room to see
, my ring, meet my husband-to-be
.and enjoy a piece of home-made
cake. 4'
Mrs. McCharles has been in
hospital for more than a month and
although confined mostly to bed,
provided the party to announce our
engagement that. L. Rosalie Lovell
and . Merkley, Burley, will 'be
'married in the near future. Who .
could ever have expected a party
while ill in Victoria Hospital?
Rosalie Lovell."
