The dead grass, leaves, and other debris were gathered into a heap and then sometimes set on fire. An odd time,, such a fire getting out of ,control, makes it necessary to call' the local fire department. Then it 'makes the news. On Monday of last week, it was reported that a cleanup was held at. the farm of Murray Ferguson, third farm east of Reid's Corners - the former Clarence Dunlop farm. Well, it did not get out of control,' so there was no call to the Ripley Fire Department. • What makes it newsworthy was that a small wooden, building, which sat .out in the orchard of every farm yedrs ago, also burned up. It was long past its, days- of active use and was knOwn up and down the line as the last one on the concession. In a way, it is rather a fitting.
