insurance premiums, will also have
an impact because a single
premium will increase $5.00 a
month while a family pretnium will
move up $10.00 for the same'period
commencing May 1,, 1976.
This increase will mean that
OHIP premiums will pay for 28% of
the' total pay Out costs of OHIF'
compared to 23% currently.
Other highlights of the budget'
are as follows:
1) Daily rate charges for semi-priv-
ate hospital beds will be raised by _
$3.50 to SS11.00,a day and private
rooms by $10.00 to' $22.00 a day.
2) The annual fee; for uninsured
motor vehicle drivers goes .from
$60.00 to $100.00 4nnually.
3) Tax cuts for st011 businesses
amount , to 3% reduction on •
corporation tax on income eligible
for small 'business deduction.

Fresh Fruits
We met' at Kay` Thacker's for our
seventh and final meeting. It was
on April 5. We opened with the
pledge. Joanne van Beers read the
minutes. Everyone answered the
roll cat Our next meeting will be a
Work meeting at" Jean Lizmore'S.
The members . read' from ,the
member's pamphlet but /Dianne'
Bushell read from the leader's
manual,
We had a butterscotch and
caramel fondue. Some fruits we
had: bananas, pineapple, mandar-
ins, muskmelons, cherries and
apples with nuts and cocoanut.
Mrs. Liztnore brought a cheese .
tray. It was enjoyed 'by all. We
cleaned up. ,
Zippy Trinettes
Meeting four of Zippy Trinettes
was held at Mrs. Dona Campbell's
home April .5 at 7.00 p.m. Barbara
Hackett, president, opened the
meeting. The roll call and home
assignments were taken up. Gail
Hackett read the minutes' for the
last meeting. The next meeting
will be held at Mrs. Dona
Campbell'•s on April.13 at 7.00 p:m.
Miss Elva Ritchie discussed' uses •
of 'the twisted chain stitch, free
choice 'article and designs for 'the
free choice article".
Mrs. Dona Campbell demon-
strated couching cross stitch and
couching 'outline stitch.
All members participated in
learning how 'to do the' couching
outline and the couching cross.
the 4-H pledge. Laurie Clark and
Debbie Allan made an apple pie
from scratch which was very good.
Bonnie Clark and Carol Buckmeier
made an apple pie from a pie crust
mix and canned apples. It was
good also. Mrs. Clark talked on the
different fruits to make pies.

Mrs. Keith's home on Monday,

Ontario Legislature this week were
the non confidence 'vote on the
Throne Speech in which the Liberal ,
sub amendment condemning the
Government -for closing hospitals,
increasing municipal taxes 'by
transferring the provincial restraint
to the local level so mat local
councils will have to raise taxes to
maintain services,' and on th;
severe cutbacks on social services,
was supported by the N.D.P. The
resulting vote was: • combined
opposition 70 to the Government's

'The Liberals supported"" the
Government to defeat the N.D.I.
amendment on the basis . that' it
would be unwise and unfair. to put
the people of the Province Of
Ontario to the expense .of a
provincial general election only six
nion.ths after the last one., Thus, an • election was. avoided. •
Treasurer McKeough unveiled a
.$12:5 billion budget,ithe deficit
projected to be $1.2 billion, while at
the same time keeping spending
growth to 10,4%.

WHITECHURCH NEWS
Whitechurch 4-H club Fruity
Five held their 6th meeting on
Wednesday evening at the home of
leader Mrs. Archie Purdon.
The meeting was called to order
by president Miss Lori Anne
Jamieson by repeating 4-H creed.
The minutes were read by Clara
Milligan. The roll . call was
answered by the 5 members
showing their pie or tarts. The next
meeting will be held at the hom* of
leader Mrs. Walter Elliott. All
showed their book 'cover and quilt
block ideas. Kathy Purdon
demonstrated banana bread which
the <club decided was good.. Mrs.
Purdon demonstrated peach baked
alaska.
In group work they prepared a
shopping list and Lori Anne
Jamieson was appointed commen-
tator for achievement day. Fruit
dessert and quick bread were
discussed. Additions maybe made
of anything to the fruit material
which they can find. Each drew the
fruit they are going to discuss for 1
minute and talk on it at next"
meeting in preparation for achieve-
menteday. The meeting was Closed
'with the 4-H creed.
Zippy Trinettes
The Zippy Trinettes club number
one held their fifth- meeting April
5th at the home of Mrs. Hackett at
7 p.m.
. Roll call, and home assignments
were .discussed ,by 8 members.
Mrs.' Hackett discussed 'the
Historical.' Outline of Embroidery.
Mrs. Cameron discussed and
reviewed Colour and Design for the
Free Choice article.
Mrs. Hackett' demonstrated the
satin stitch. Mrs. Cameron
demonstrated the sheath filling
stitch. Both leaders demonstrated
how' to make a twisted' cord.
,Al members' practiced'these new
stitches.

The Truiti Fruitis held their fifth
meeting at the home of Mrs. .Clark
