VARIETY NIGHT , '76
On. Thursday and Friday. nights,
Ripley District School !held their
annual variety concert. The music
directors this year were. Carol
IvlacKay and, Arlene Tranter.
The concert started out with the
musical prelude. The players were
Ken MacKay, Debbie Peterbaugh,
Joyce Osborne, Shelley Hackett,
'Helen Culbert and Anne Farrell'.
Then Ken MacKay gave the
president's welcome. The. mass
°choir sang the School Song, "I Am
A Rock", "If You Could, Read, My
Mind", "I Believe'.
The - grade 7 class presented
'Line Classe Francaise,Comique''.
The dramatic .-arts class then
presented The Barbershop. The
barber being Henry Wardell and
the customers were Dave Linde,
Mark Stewart, Mary Lynn McLean,
Rick Clampitt and Robert Regier.
Nancy and Heather MacDonald
then put on a display of Highland
Dancing. The Glee Club then sang
"The, Importance :of the Rose",
"Too Late For Praying". Susan
Thompson played a clarinet solo.
Next on the agenda was "The
Orchestra" with the conductor
Audrey Kaastra'. Members of the
orchestra 'were .Marilyn Stewart,
• Helene Peet, Henry Wardell,
Robert Regier, Donna Huber, Rick
Clampitt, Mary Lynn McLean,
RObbie Lowry, Jane Messenger,
. Dave Linde, Mark - Stewart and
Debbie Zipfel. The dancers in this
skit were Susan Thompson, Alice
Steininger, Sharyil Mason, Peggy
MacLennan, Bonnie Van Home,
Darlene Nixon, Alison MacKay,
Dawna Rutledge, Shelley Hackett,
Karen McGarvey, Ken MacKay,
.Gail MacDonald, Kevin Cook,
Heather Boyle and Barry Marshall.
The group which sang - `The
.Little Blue Man" was Denise
Huber, Jane Ann Coiling, Priscilla
Zipfel, Mike Pollock; Kevin Fer-
guson and Bob Campbell. . The
Woman was Mike' Gallant and the
Little Blue Man was Sandy Liddle.
Huber. There were five other
schoOls participating. They •were
,:Chesley, Marton, Port Elgin,
Walkerton and Kincardine. iRobert
Regier and Chris McGarvey won
the Junior Efey's Doubles and
Glenn Grtibb came third in the
Junior Boy's singles, Congratular
tions on your fine show.

Mass Choir, Grade 7's "Une
Classe Francaise Comique" and
comical interludes by the Library

and Tom Wilson for directing and
accompanying the Elementary
Mass Choir.
On Wednesday, 'March 31 we
welcomed the students of the
Penetangore School to our dress
rehearsal for the Variety Show.
On Tuesday, March 30 Dr. Alien
came to the school to administer ,
boosters and revaccinations.

a "Talent" skit. Under the
direction of Ric Irwin and accom-
panied by Tern Wilson, the
elementary' choir sang "One Tin
Soldier"„ "Killing Me Softly" and
"Catch a Falling Star". The play
this year was a 'drama entitled
"The Happy Journey from Ripley
to London". The cast was Marilyn
Rhody playing Ma Kirby, Robbie
Lowry as Elmer, Carol MacKay
acting Caroline; Bob Campbell as
Arthur and Marlene 'Huston as.
Beulah. The stage director was
Nancy McGuire and the play was
directed by Miss Janice Fischer.
Members of the library club
contributed comical interludes all
through the concert. Members
who took part were Nancy MacDon
ald, Joan Osborne, Maureen? Mac-
-Millen, Debbie Lowry, Patti Elliott,
Shelley Farrell, Cathy Laurence,
Janice Elliott; Amanda Ball, Jane
Farrell, Janet Burnett and Michelle
MacTavish. The boys who' helped
handle the stage setup and chair
management this year were Jamie
Gallant, Joe , Fry, Brian Huston,
,Rick Rock, Brian . Lowry, and
Robbie Rock.'
A lot'of credit goes to the music
directors Carol MaeKay and Arlene
Tranter for all the work they put
into this concert, and also to Pat
MacDonald who worked hard too.
If it hadn't been for these people
and the teachers, the concert
wouldn't have been :near v the
`success it was!
