On this coming Saturday evening
the Pine River boys will be putting
on an entertainment. in the new
Ripley Huron complex.: Now Pine
River groups" have often put on
concerts and dances in Ripley in
past years, but this is still a first for
Ripley for these Pine. River boYs are
from Kentncky and- they are
putting on a Blue Grass concert
*hid' can be enjoyed by adults and
children alike. Incidentally, it was
a local Pine, River Man who is
responsible for obtaining this
professional,group. At present', he
and his wife wish to remain 'in the
background'. However we are
hoping to release the details in a
further item next week.

home here after recently visiting
with their daughter 'Ainslie and'
husband, Mr, and Mrs. Dick
Bertrand in Ithaca, New York
State. Dick is the 'head hockey
coach, at Cornell Uniyersity. 'ever

entertainment for the public. The
variety nights were well received

On. Friday Mr. and Mrs. Sid
Johnson of. Toronto visited with his
brether and wife, Mr. and Mrs,
Redvers. Johnson in Ripley and
with Mr. and Mrs. Guest Mitchell.
in Kincardine. On• Friday evening
Mr. and Mrs. Sid Johnson enter-
'tained his four nieces along with
Mr. Guest . Mitchell and Mr.
George McLean to dinner. and later
a reunion for everyone was, held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Redirers
Johnson in, Ripley. This marked
the first time that this family of
uncles and nieces had ever been
together. The young ladies
accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Sid
Johnson back to Toronto on
Saturday and then flew from
Toronto airport for their• homes in
England$ on Sunday evening:

Once again Ripley folks proved
thoughtful and generous this past •
week. No sooner, had their April
issue of the National Geographic
magazine been received when
three people, Jerry Huber, Robbie
Rock and Stewart Shiells all offered
their copies to the writer to read an
article of special interest in it.
, Ripley-Huron Minor Hockey is
holding a meeting at the complex,
Tuesday, April 13, 8.30. Anyone

Mrs. Annie Tranter of Ripley and
Bancroft, mother of Ripley's reeve
George • "Bill" Tranter, passed
away in her 95th year last' Saturday
in Kincardine, and District Hospit-
al. Mrs. Tranter was born in
Walsall, Staffordshire, England.
Over the weekend the late Mrs.
Tranter rested at the McLennan-
McCreath Funeral Home in Ripley.
The Ripley funeral director dr6ve
to Bancroft on Monday. The,
funeral service was ' held on
Tuesday afternoon of this week at
the Hattin Funeral Home there
with interment 'in McGillivray
Cemetery in the Bancroft area. she
is survived by two daughters, Mrs.
Ivy, Clark of Toronto ' and Mrs.
Mabel Stark of. Bancroft and three
sons A.S. Tranter' of Gilbert &
Ellice Islands, South • Pacific;
Richard Tranter of Weyburn;
Saskatchewan and George
