The Hotyrood Wortien's Institute
met on Thursday afternOon at the '
home of Mrs. Ellwood Elliott. The
president, Mrs. William MacPher-
son, welcomed everyone and the
meeting opened with the Ode and
the Mary Stewart. Collect. Mrs.
Lorne Eadie gave the treasurer's
report. •
The roll call was "A suggestion
for next year's program".
Correspondence was read which
included an invitation 'from the
Wingham W.I. to their meeting on
May 25th at 8 p.m. when 'Mrs.
Gwen Fawthrop (forinerly of here)
will be the guest speaker on flower
arrangements; announcements of
the Achievement 'Day and a forum
on nutrition and family meals; a
thank you note from the Waters
family, who lost their possessions
by fire and a reply letter from the.
Kairshea Institute. A membership
will be- continued in the Historical
Society and Canvassers were ap-
pointed for the Canter Society.
MrS. P. A. Murray gave a
splendid report on the District
Directors meeting, which was held
at the Holyrood hall.. The Bruce
South District meeting will be held
at VVhitechurch. Holyrood Institute
will help with the Farm and Home
Banquet at the Ripley complex in
cohnection with: the International
Ploughing Match.
This being the ,annual meeting
the minutes of last year's meeting
were read and reports of the
standing committees were given by
Mrs. Alex Percy, , Mrs. Gerald
Rhody, Mrs. Ellwood Elliott, Mrs.
Jack Scott and Miss Edna Boyle,
who also gave the auditor's report.
Mrs. Alex Percy presented the
slate of , officers for 976-77 and
installed . the new officers.
The director, Mrs. Marion Harris
then presided for a short program
of readings by Mrs. Frank Maulden
and a. musical number by -Mrs.
Williativ MacPherson and Miss
Edna 'Boyle. A guessing contest
proved interesting. • Mrs, Frank
Maulden then presented Mrs.
Lorne Eadie, the retiring secretary-
treasurer, with a gift in apprecia-
tion of. her faithful" services. 0
.Canada and the institute Grace
were sung .and delicious refresh-
ments were served.

Heads Regional
Library Board
T. H. Alton Of Walkerton, a
native of Lucknow, has beennamed
chairman of the board ortrustees of
the Georgian Bay 'Rbgional Library
System. The appointment was
made at ihe System's ,annual
meeting held, in Barrie on March
22nd.
Mr. Alton, ,who was appointed to
the board by the Ministry of
Cultnre and Recreation, is a retired
treasurer of'Bruce County. He has
served on the regional library
board for four prevous years and is
the region's representative on the
Ontario Library Trustees Associa-
tion. , He replaces as chairman
Lindsay Inglis of Badjeros who
stepped down after serving the
maximum allowable •term of five
consecutive years.
Georgian Bay Regional Library
System, founded , in 1966, is
primarily a. co-ordinating body
whose objective is to improve the
overall quality of library service in
the Georgian Bay area. It has no,
authority over local library boards
but exists to ' provide direction,
leadership and advisory services to
the 76 individual library boards in
the counties of Simcoe, Grey,
Bruce and Dufferin.

mas Seal Campaign in Ontario with
a percentage per capita increase of

bury Hotel, Toronto on March 15
was attended by representatives of
Bruce, Dufferin, Grey Lung Assoc-
iation, Mrs. Iona Wilson, Christ-
mas Seal 'secretary, and Mrs.
Helen Cowan, • incoming executive

Mrs. Edith, Gamble, executive
director, merits congratulations for
directing this ca.mpaign; Mrs:.
Gainble 'retires on March 31 after
ten years of dedicated' work with
the Association.
Board members and friends,
volunteers and donors combined
efforts and money to .achieve this
standing, in spite of an almost
crippling mail -strike. Community
co-operation was outstanding. ,
RepreSentatives from across On-
tario, including Kenora and Niag-
ara districts reported results of
their Associations' 1975-76 cam-
paigns. In spite of extra programs
and 'much, hard work; the percent
age per capita income dropped in
many areas..
The association representative in
this area is Mrs. Evan Keith.
