Fruit Cups

The Clover Valley Fruit Cups
held their third meeting at the
home- of Annette Elphick on .
Wednesday', February 18th at 7.00,
To Start the meeting off, they
repeated the 4-H pledge followed
by the roll call. Pam McIntosh read
the minutes of the last meeting
which were approved as, read. The
design and colour for the front
covers 'were decided. The next
meeting is being held at the home
of Donna Elphick on WedneSday,
February 25th at 7.00. .
Both leaders discussed frozen
fruits, . canned fruits and dried
fruits. Each member named their
dried fruit that they, were to bring.
Mrs. J'. Elphick demonstrated
-Raspberry Bavarian .cream".
Wendy Hamilton and Donna Elph-
ick ; under the direction of Mrs.
Fran Elphick. demonstrated
Peach Layer Dessert" and An-
nctte Elphick cooked the
Sauce".
For group work "each member
selected a fruit for their special
study.
They closed the meeting with the
4-H creed followed by' a' delicious
lunch.

The second meeting of White- ,
church '4-H club was held at the
home of Mrs. Archie Purdon on
Wednesday, February 18. Lori
Anne Jamieson, president, opened
the meeting with all 5 members
and leaders repeating the pledge in..
' unison. The roll call was answered
by giving 2, reasons why 'we eat
fruit. Kathy Purdon ' read the
minutes. '
The next ,meeting will be held
February .25 at the home of Mrs.
Walter Elliott, and Clara Milligan
and, Wendy Kay will, give the
demonstration. Kathy Pturdon
demonstrated baked apples„
Mrs. Purdon demonstrated how
to prepare half a' grapefruit and
how. to Section grape fruit and
oranges. Mrs, Purdon also
demonstrated a FrUit Cup. Mrs.
Elliott discussed Ontario fresh
fruit, and imported fresh fruit,
inspection and. grading.
Lunch of baked apples, and fruit
cup was enjoyed by the club. The
repeating of the creed closed the
meeting.

Lucknow No. 1 4-H club met in
the Luckno* Central Public School
on Thursday, February 19 at 7 p.m.
for 'their 'fourth meeting. There
were eight members present.
They opened the meeting by.
repeating the 4-H' pledge. The
'minutes of the last meeting, were
read by Grace Alton and Joanne
Ritchie gave the treasurer's report.
The covers were handed out with
the design for them.
We decided to go to the April
24th Achievement Day. Mrs.
Ritchie -went over the subject
matter -Fruit the Day 'Round".

two attractive fruit Salad plates
which the. girls sampled. We
closed the meeting with the 4-H.

sorns. held •their seeenl meeting at
the bottle of Mrs. Gerald Rhody on
February 21st. , Mrs. Rhody talked
about Ontario fresh fruit,' imparted
fresh fruit, inspection and grading,
and the importance of choosing top,
grades, and demonstrated "the
making of a fresh -fruit cup. Mrs.
Duiker prepared r'an apple fon
baking.
Members are -to bring a design
for their book covers' to the , next
meeting .at Mrs, Duiker's home at
10• a.m. on Saturday, February
28th.

The first meeting of Dungannon I
4-H opened on Thursday; February'
19 with 14 members present. The
leaders for the club are Mrs. Jean °
Errington and Mrs. Donna Young.
Members answered the roll call
giving their name, address, birth
date and number of previous clubs
completed.
The leaders discussed the differ-
ent articles we are to make in "A
Touch of Stitchery" and we also
discussed the' color chart. The
leaders displayed some of the
articles, they made and mentioned
' the different stitches used.
Election of officerS took place
and are: president. Annabelle
Stewart; rvice . president, Leola
Chisholm; treasurer, Sylka Becker;
secretary and pres's reporter rotat-
es ,each week. For' meeting one
Virginia Chisholm is the secretary
and press reporter. We decided to
. hold Olir meetings every Thursday
at 7.15 p.m.
For meeting two, the members
are to have a work box prepared
including embroidery thread, hoop,
needles, and material. Meeting
two will be held oil Thursday,
February 26 at 7.15 at Mrs. Donna
Young's.

Dumpling Gang was held at 7.00
p.m. at the home of Karen Elliott .
