The Lancers Intermediate hockey
schedule, like all others, continues
to be stalled by the weather. They
managed to get one/ game in
against the powerful Port Elgin
Sunocos.
Starting the game short-handed,'
some help was quickly recruited
from the bush league ranks to
round out the roster. The boys
played quite well and worked hard
to keep the ,game close.-
Rhody came up with the
first goal of the game to go ahead
from Jim Murray and Steven
Hackett. Port Elgin went , ahead 3
to 1 ending the second period.
• John Emb.erlin finished the scoring
for the Lancers midway in the third
- period. lancers pressed hard' the
rest of the game but couldn't better
the 4-2 losS.
More fan support would sure be
appreciated to keep the , team
giving all they've got.

Atom Tournament
Lucknow Atoms took part in the
Seaforth Optimist Atom Tourna-
ment on Saturday, January 17.
In the first game they defeated
Mitchell by a • .6-3 score. Scoring
were David Emb.erlin, two goals,
Duane Rivett, Paul • , MacIntyre,
_George 'Alton and Lawrence Clark
with singles. Assists went to Jamie
here, Lynn Murray, George Alton,
Wayne Phillips and Paul Wein-
tyre.
Lucknow then advanced to the
second game in the championship
series, and the, competition in this
game was stronger as Listowel
defeated the local boys 6-2. George
Alton scored both Lucknow goals
and Jamie here' picked up an
assist. LucknoW opened the
,scoring and also scored the final
goal of the game.

The final score ' was 5-4 : for
-'Lucknow. • Itwas a. game that was'a
thriller, from beginning to end' as
both teams engaged in SOmp very'
exciting hockey. LuCknow's ace
marksman George Alton; 'scored
four goals. .
Lucknow opened the scoring on a
goal by George Alton, unassisted,
early in the first period. Ripley
then took control .as they scored
three ,successive goals before the
end of the first period to take a 3-1
lead. 'The only, goal scored in the
Second period was , scored by
George Alton assisted by Paul
Maclntyre. In the third period Paul.
Johnstone scored unassisted to tie
the gaihe. Ripley bounCed back and
went ahead again. George Alton
:then scored to again tie .the game
and-with three seconds left scored
the winning goal. Both goals were
had two penalties. Excitement at
its 'best and a well deserved win for
the Lucknow boys.
