One of the problems of working on a monthly magazine is that
you.re always working a month ahead of yourself. The result is
that we may not think it's Christmas, and you may not feel too
Christmasy, but since this is the last Rural Voice to be issued
before the holiday, it's time to say Merry Christmas.
We often decry the start of the Christmas season that seems to
get pushed back earlier and earlier every year by businessmen
anxious to hawk their wares. But if you can set aside the
commercial aspect of it, what's wrong with the rest of the idea of
starting Christmas early. The feeling of Christmas, the feeling of
love and brotherhood, is one we can never get too much of. So we
won't appologize for saying an early Merry Christmas this year.
We'll admit to being biased, but we think the real spirit of
Christmas is best found in a rural Christmas. Living in a large
centre. it's easy to get wrapped up in the hectic pace and the
frantic spending of a "green" Christmas: But Christmas in the
country lets you think of the things that really matter, not the
trinkets and baubles. It's one of the benefits of farm life that no
price tag can be attached to.
So from us here at Rural Voice, to all of our readers, Merry
Christmas. May your heart be as full as your stocking.
