40th Anniversary Was
Celebrated on Friday
WR.OXETER—Mr. and Mrs, Charles
Cathers, Wrpxeter North, held a
family dinner on Friday evening,
December 29th, at their home. It was•
the occasion of their 40th wedding
anniversary. Twenty attended the
dinner.
Mr. and Mrs, Gathers, the former
Arabel Eadie, are natives of this dis-
trict.. They have two children, Eldred
and Mrs. Ken Jackson and two grand-
children.
Mr. and Mrs. Cathers' many friends
wish for them many, more happy anni-

United Church Will
Hold Annual Meeting
WROXETER—The annual meeting
of Wroxeter United Church will be
held in the church sechool room on
Tuesday, January 10th. At 7 p.m. a
pot luck supper will be served with
members of the Woman's Association
in charge of arrangements.
Reports of the various departments
of the church will be heard and offic-
ers for 1956 will be elected.

ANNUAL PARTY
WROXETER—Ninety members of
the Howick Liens Club and their
friends enjoyed a turkey dinner at
Gerrie Township Hall on Thursday
night, served by the Guild of St.
Martha of the Anglican Church. It
was the annual Christmas party with
a visit from Santa Claus and- an ex-
change of gifts for the ladies present.
President Marshall Woolcox was
chairman and welcomed the guests.
Ken Edgar was tail-twister and also
conducted several stunts and con-
tests. Warren Zurbrigg 'proposed a
toast to the ladies and Mrs. Ewart
Whitfield replied. Dr. Frank Mills, on
behalf of the Lions Club, presented' a
gift to Mrs. G. L. Dobson in apprecia-
tion of her services as pianist through-
out the gear, Mr. M. Hendrick favour-
ed with accordion music during the
dinner hour and also accompanied the
assembly for a sing-song„ 4 draw was

Following the dinner Lions and
guests retired to the auditorium where
they were entertained by the Country
Squires from Listowel. Introduced by
Ken Edgar,, a male quartet favoured
with numbers in' "barber shop” style,

Lions partyY a few weeks ago.
Santa Claus arrived and from a gay
and colorful Christmas tree presented
each lady with a gift.
The Howick Lions Christmas meet-
ing has become a tradition in the

Donald Munro Passes
In His 57th Year
WROXETER—In Western Hospital,
Toronto, on Saturday, December 24th,
1955, there entered into rest a well-
known native of Wroxeter in the per-
son of Donald Munro, following six
week's illness,
In his 57th year, Donald was the
son of the late Alex Munro and Janet
Allen Munro, He attended public
school here, Harriston High School,
and was a graduate of Toronto Uni-
versity in Forestry. For 34 years he
had been employed by the Abitibi Pulp
and Paper Company.
In 1028 he was united in marriage
With Owendoline Ewing, of St. Johns,
N,B, who with four children survives.
The children are, Donald, Petawawa;
Shirley, Calgary; Ross, Western Uni-
veraitY and David a high school stud-
ent, There is alSo one brother, Allen
of Wroxeter, TWo sisters and one
brother, predeceased him, Miss Winni-
fred Munro, Miss Ann Munro and Dr.
John Munro.

Gadke, daughter of the late Frederick

Never Missed Train
In 26 Years' Service
FORDWICH—With the new set-up
in mail service, Ross Doig made his
final trip to the C.P.R. station with
the mail on Saturday, December 31,
Doig has carried the mail for
the past 26 years, and in all that time
never once missed a train, which is
an excellent record.
The mail is now being brought from
Harriston by truck. William Edgar is
the mail carrier.

L.O.B.A. to Send Bale
To Scott Mission
FORDWICH—Members of the
L.O.B,A. Lodge held the December
meeting last week in the Orange Hall.
W.M. Susan Gibson was in the chair
and Mrs. Elsie Strong conducted the
installation of officers for 1956,
Plans were made to send a 'bale of
clothing to Scott Mission in Toronto
and members were asked to bring in
articles as soon as possible.
Conimittees were chosen , to finish
quilts for the orphanage, The new
worthy matron, Freida Darcey, finish-
ed the business and closed the, meet-
ing.
