UNDER a Liberal government, Canadians have added every year to the national strength and national unity of Canada; We have had the greatest expansion of social welfare in our history; We have increased our employment, our production and our national income every year; We have had the greatest expansion of our primary and secondary, industries — truly an industrial revolution; Because of the outstanding contribution of the members of our Navy, Army and Air Force, we have been able to do our full share to prevent and to stop Communist aggression; We have reduced the national debt every year, and, in the last two years, reaped the reward in lower tax rates. Do we want all that to be continued? Do you really think it's time for a change? For a change to a Parliament of regional groups a handful .of Social Crediters from the Far West, a few Socialists from the Prairies, a few more Conservatives from Ontario or the Maritimes and some so-called Independents from Quebec? In such a Parliament without the leadership and responsibility, of a united national party, how could the government help being weak and insecure? Do we want a weak and divided government to deal with the formidable problems of the next few years? I ask you, IS it really, time for a change?- We believe most Canadians want a government which encourages enterprise, promotes trade and fosters the exploration and develop- ment of our resources; and you know it as well as we do, that requires balanced budgets, paying oil debts in prosperous times and a tax structure which, while fair to, all, is adequate to meet thoe demands For a Greater Canada— VOTE LIBERAL! .!0N 9R tom, 4-644.(44.ri Skirt men, women gain 5,10,15 lbs. Girls' Home Garden Clubs Huron County girls' garden clubs, with the exception of the Auburn group, have been visited in the last two weeks by Mr. Harold Baker, the assistant Agricultural Representative, and Miss Doreen Kern, the assistant Home Economist in Huron County, The gardens were judged on a basis of general appearance, freedom from weeds, diseases, and insects; state of cultivation, quality and yield of veg- etables and contribution of flowers to home surroundings. Most of the gar- dens judged revealed much time and effort spent by the gardeners; rows were generally well weeded and culti- vated, In spite of heavy rains early in the season that held back planting, the vegetables were remarkably well ad- vanced, and many girls were using lettuce, radishes, peas, beans, beets and carrots. Tomato and corn plants showed good growth throughout the county, Parsnips, chinese cabbage and broccoli in some gardens would bene- fit if thinned, Home beautification is stressed in the garden clubs this year and the girls are encouraged to use their flowers to improve the appearance of home sur- roundings. Some girls put good ideas to work in planning rock gardens, annual and perennial bordera. Many already have dwarf marigolds, corn- flowers and zinnias blooming and the sister Now Canadian Legion Amateur Contest to be held in Wingham Town Hall Wednesday, September 23 TALENT .SCOUTS FROM TWO OUT= OF=TOWN RADIO STATIONS ARE EXPECTED.
