The June meeting of the Women's
Xnetitute was held on Tuesday after-
noon in the community centre. The
president, Mrs. Walter Scott, was In
charge, The meeting was opened with
the Institute Ode which was followed
by the Mary Stewart Collect.
The minutes of the last meeting and
the financial report were read by the
secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Cliff Logan.
During the business period it was de-
cided to have petunias planted in the
cemetery flower beds. Several of the
.members plan to attend the A,C.W,W.
Conference in Toronto, A trip to the
O,A.C. at Guelph was also considered.
The roll call was, "What my hus-
band thinks of the Institute", Mrs,
Stuart Procter gave an interesting re.,
port on the district annual meeting
that was held in Dungannon, A piano
duet was played by Eleanor and Mar-
lene Walsh. A motto, "We all look
through the self-same bars, some see
mud and others stars", was given by
Mrs. Albert Coultes, A splendid ad-
dress on citizenship, which was pre-
pared by Mrs. James Smith, of Brus-
sels, was read by Mrs. Walter Scott.
Lunch was served -by Mrs, M. Taylor,
Mrs, L, Cook and Mrs. M. Bradburn.

Mr, James Coultes, of Belgrave, Mr.
George Kennedy, of Luclenow, and
Mr. D, Andrews, secretary of the Can-
adian Hereford Breeders' Association,
from Calgary, left on. Sunday to attend
the American Hereford Breeders' Con-
gress, which is being held in the
Michigan State College at Lansing,
Mich., from Monday to Wednesday of
this week.
Mrs. Alice Johnson, of London, is
spending this week with Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Procter.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Atchson, and
family, of Stratford, and Mrs, Nor-
man Walsh, of Blyth, were Sunday
visitors with Mr, and Mrs, Harold
Walsh.
Another hurricane struck the vic-
inity about eleven a.m. on Saturday
causing further damage to Mr. Sam
Fear's barn and also broke a hydro
pole in the village.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Vannan
spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Perdue at Islington.
In spite of the extreme heat Satur-
day night, a good crowd turned out
to the CKNX Barn Dance, which was
held in the Community Arena under
the auspices of the Athletic Assoc.

Miss Nora VahCamp visited on Sun-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Van-
Camp at Wingham,
Mrs. John Anderson spent Sunday
visiting her cousins at Alma.

Mrs. Howard Wilkinson.

of Mr. and Mrs, Arthur Flarris, and
Samuel Harvey Thompson, son. of Mrs.

Mr. Thompson, was solemnized by
Rev. J. E. Mitchell in Kingston Road
United Church, Toronto.
The bride was given in marriage by
her father. She wore an ivory gown
of lace and net over satin, A matching
pearl-encrusted cap held her veil of
tulle illusion and she carried a cascade
of pink roses, ,lily-of-the-valley and
stephanotis. Attending the bride were
Mrs. Robert Harris, matron of hon-
our, and Mrs, Sam Thompson, Bel-
grave, who wore strapless gowns of
heavenly blue net and lace over taffeta
with lace jackets and matching hats,
trimmed with pearls. Flower girl, Linda
Chambers, Toronto, wore a gown of
heavenly blue net over taffeta and
matching headband entwined with
pink rosebuds. All carried • colonial
nosegays of pink and white flowers.
Samuel Johnston, Britton, was best
man. Robert Harris, Toronto and Sam-
uel Thompson, Belgrave, ushered.
The bride's mother received in rose-
wood beige crepe with matching
straw hat and brown accessories, her
corsage was Johanna Rill roses. She
was assisted by the groom's mother
in M'Lady blue lace and crepe with
white accessories. Her corsage was
pink roses.
The bride's grandmother, Mrs. B.
Sigston, attended in navy blue sheer,
white lace trim and white accessories,
with pink carnation corsage.
The reception was held at Claredon
Hall. The bride's going away outfit
was a turquoise blue boucle suit with
yellow hat, shortie coat, gloves and
navy blue shoes and purse, her cor-
sage was yellow roses.
For the wedding trip the bride and
groom left on a motor trip to the
United States and Montreal.
The bride is a graduate of the Can-
adian Mothereraft Hospital Training
School for Nurses, Toronto.
Guests were present fiom Vancouv-
er, Montreal, Galt, Belgrave, Wing-
ham, Listowel, Britton, Bolton, 11/Mil-
ken, Barrie, Windsor, Collingvvood,
Scarborough, Toronto, Wroxeter.
Prior to the marriage th'e bride was
entertained at several showers and on
June 6th, the bride's mother enter-
tained at a troussea tea.

Earl family was held in Seaforth
Park on Saturday, June 20th, There
were 150 ,in attendance, The oldest
person present was Mr. Robert Cath-
ers, Gorrie, and the youngest child,
Ronald Nelson Loutitt, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Loutitt, Wroxeter.
Miss Marjorie Yeo, Listowel, was
crowned "Queen for a Day".
Dane Reunion
The Dane reunion was held in Lis-
towel Memorial Park on Saturday.
There were 85 attending, these being
descendants of the late Thomas Dane
and Jane Buchanan.
An afternoon of sports was enjoyed.
The officers were Mr, Harold Pollock,
president, Mrs. William Wilson, secre-
tary and Mr. W. W. Strong, treasurer.
Among those present were members
from Streetsville, Windsor, St. Cath-
arines, Toronto, Ripley, Port Elgin,
Niagara and Mt. Forest. The singing
of Auld Lang Syne brought another
reunion to a close.
Brown Reunion
The nineteenth annual reunion of the
Brown family from the Ninth Conces-
sion of Howick Township, was held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Whit-
field and Mr. James Douglas, of Gor-
rie.
Some sixty direct descendants of the
late -Stephen and William Brown at-
tended the gathering. Letters of re-
gret at not being present were read
from friends in Quebec and Manitoba,
Two sumptuous meals were enjoyed
by those present and the afternoon
was spent )0,, 'games and ,swirnming.
