New District H.S.
Discussed at Meeting
Ratepayers who turned out for
Monday night's nomination meeting
at Lucknow heard an interesting and
informative resume of town and
school affairs, highlighted by a pro-
gress report of the new district high
school and a forecast that the deben-
ture costs of the new building can be
carried for about a one mill levy on
the present .district assessment of
close to $5,000,000,
J. W. Joynt, ex-warden of Bruce
County, was chairman of the rate-
payers' meeting and in his opening
remarks asked why, with a closed fac-
tory here, Lucknow was not repre-
sented at an industrial meeting of the
Ontario Planning and Development
Board held in Wingham this fall.
Mr. Joynt expressed the sentiments
of the meeting 'in referring to the re-
grettable accident that had *claimed
the life of J. C. aVicNa,b, by which
Lucknow lost a "grand citizen."
Reeve Stuart E. Robertson, as first
speaker, referred also to the sad cir-
cumstances by which he had come to
office,---Lucknow Sentinel.
