Stainton Kicks Point
In the beginning of the second quar-
ter, Wingham started to crash through
the Goderich line. For most of the
quarter each team played fairly close
ball until near, the end, when the
Mustang's Grewar took a short lateral
and ran right into the Goderich 10
yard line. However, Goderich managed
to foul up Wingham's first play, a
pass. Next the Mustang's tried the
old statue Of Liberty play, only to be
smeared again, coming around the
end. At this point in the game Wing-
ham's able quart'er-back Neil Stain-
ton, kicked a 45 yard rouge, for the
only score in the game,
Both Teams Tire
In the third quarter both teams be-
gan to show a little wear. Goderich
made two fumbles, the second one
being recovered by the Mustangs.
Near the end of the quarter Goderich
began to show fresh drive, as they
put on a swift series of end runs
which carried them to the Wingham
30 yard line,
Staintini Saves Day
The fourth quarter was by far the
most interesting to watch for the
spectators. Stainton intercepted a pass
on his own 30 yard line and made a
brilliant run to the Goderich 35. At
this point, Grewar and Donahue made
two terrific plunges of 20 and 14 yards,
then Grewar ran over for a T, D. only
to be called back for an illegal for-
ward in the backfield. Goderich now
put on a flashing display of end runs
and sweeps which took them right
down to Wingham's four yard line,
in the course of five Consecutive first
downs. Here Wingharn's line held
bravely and Goderich failed to Make
yards so Wingham took over. On their
second down, with 30 seconds to go
Wingham kicked, The last play of the
game Goderich kicked for a rouge,
but Stairiton managed to drive out to
his ones foot line, so Wingham came
out victorious,
With the Wingham line playing the
way they were, it was hard to pick out
arty stars, but it seems only fair to
mention Wingham's Grewar and Sta-
inton, and Goderich'a Attridge for
jobs well done in their respective
back-fields.

WINGHAM WINS
FOOTBALL OPENER
On the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept':
3rd,, Goderich was the scene of the
North Huron football opener, with
Wingliarn and Goderich fighting it
out. Despite the fact that both teams
were relatively "green" it was a close
well-fought game all the way.
Goderich, in possession first, ran
into an unpleasant surprise when they
started things off by trying to break
Wingham's line, only to find it pract-
ically invulnerable. Since neither team
had a particularly good pass offense,
Wingham's strong line may well have
been the deciding factor in Tuesday's
see-saw game. Each team tried five
passes with Goderich completing none,
and Wingham only one.
Lott Injured
In the first quarter, the Mustangs
put on a relentless drive, 'but just as
they were threatening, on the Coder-
ich 30, Attridge of Goderich intercep-
ted a short pass over centre and ran
it out of danger. In the opening minu-
tes of the game Wingham lost one of
their strong backfield threats when
left-half ,Bud Lott seriously injured his
ankle and was removed to Goderich
General and Marine Hospital.
