Wawanosh, celebrated the, fiftieth
anniversary of their wedding-at their
home On Tuesday evening. Fifty years
ago Mr. Inglis and Miss Jennie Mac-
Kenzie, daughter of the late Mr, and
Mrs. Alexander' MacKenzie of Kinloss
were married at South Kinloss Manse,
Lueknow, by Rev. McLennan, The
happy couple spent their honeymoon
at the Toronto Exhibition, To them
were born nine children, seven of
whom are living, and attended the

wedding dinner on Tuesday, The fam-
ily present were: Mr. and Mrs. Mae-
Laren Inglis of Highgate, Mr, and

N. S., Mr, and Mrs. Roderick Inglis
and family of Forest, Mr. and Mrs.
John Inglis and family of Petrolia,
and Tom at home. Also present were:

gary, Alta. They have eight grand,
children. Many friends gathered
around them on Tuesday evening and
Harold, their young helper from Es-
tonia, kept up the music with his
splendid piano accordian. Frank lVfae,
Kenzie kept the air ringing with the
hag-pipe selections, Their many
friends extend best wishes for many
more years of wedded happiness,
Mr. and Mrs, Ira Walt attended the
funeral of her aunt, the late Miss
McKenzie of Lucknow, on Thursday
last. Interment was in South Kinloss
cemetery.
Mr. Jas. Snowden spent the week-
end with Toronto relatives and at-
tended the Ex.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kirk and
sons, Norman and Don Douglas, of
Chicago, visited for a few days last
week with his mother, Mrs. A, Kirk,

Forest, spent the week-end with his
mother, Mrs Jerry Casemore, who is
very ill at the home of hes daughter;
Mrs. Ed, Marsh of Bluevale, and with

loss, and other relatives in this dis-
trict,
Mr. Hector Purdon of Lueknow,
has opened another bakery at Pet-
rolia during the past week, Mr. A. E.
Purdon, Mr. Angus Falconer and Mr.
Bert Coxworth of Lueknow, accomp-
anied Mr. Purdon to Petrolia and
Mr. Coxworth was placed in charge of
the shop.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Henderson, Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Dawson and other rela-
tives from this district attended the
funeral of Mrs. Tiles. Henderson in
Listowel on Wednesday last. Mrs.
Henderson was in her seventy-fourth
year and was twice married. First to
Arthur Wells, who predeceased her
over twenty years ago, and seven
years ago to Mr. Henderson, who sur-
vives her. Interment was in Fairview
cemetery, with Rev. Dahms officiat-
ing, Mr. Henderson is visiting ,,this
week with Mr. and Mrs, Dawson and
other relatives in this community.
Mrs. J. Wright of N. Toronto, visited
on Thursday last at the home of her
sister, Mrs. Russell Chapman, her
daughter, Joyce, who had been vielt-
ing here for the past two weeks re-
turned home with her. Gary Chapman
who had spent the holidays with his
uncle, Mr. Nelson Smith of Markham,
returned home with Mrs. Wright.

and. Bob, of Plymouth, Mich., visited
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Elliott over the week-end and also
with Mr, and Mrs. Robert Galbraith,

in this community with Tiffin rela-
tives.

The ladles of the Presbyterian
Church held a aniscellarieous shower
at the home of Mrs. John Gaunt on
Wednesday evening last in honour of
Miss Kathleen Forster, a bride of this
Saturday. After the many beautiful
and useful gifts were unwrapped,
lunch was served and the social time
enjoyed by ell.

Monday to start the nurses' training
course in Victoria Hospital.

his father, Rev. J. W. Watt, were in
Toronto last week, where the latter
officiated at the funeral of a former
friend. Mrs. Milian Moore and Muriel

Miss Catharine McCarthy, who had
been visiting , for two weeks at the
home of her sister, Mrs, Louis Dalton,
returned to Detroit last Tuesday. Her
nephew, Mr. Harry McCarthy, and
three boys from Detroit spent the
week-end there. Mr. Philip Austin,
who motored from his home at Lor-
raine, Ohio, also visited at the Dalton
home last week.

rooms, where the bride-elect, her
mother and Mrs. Bradley, mother of
the groom-elect, received. Mrs. Bert
Martin of Hamilton, was at the door
and Mrs. Munro was in charge of th
register. Miss Eleanor Carson was
in charge of the trousseau. Mrs. Fred
Bowker, Toronto, aunt of Miss Wylie
showed household linens, china, silver
and kitchen equipment. Miss Betty
Wylie, Toronto, was in the gift room,
In the evening, Miss Gilberta Howes

tea table, which was centred by the
wedding cake flanked by pale pink
candles in silver holdeas. Serving
were Mrs. Mel Martin, London, aunt
of the bride-elect, and Miss .Marion
Bradley, of Kincardine. In the evening
Mrs. Allen Munro and Mrs. Mel Mar-
tin poured, Mrs. Thos. Burke assisted
in serving the guests. Others assisting

Lovely gladioli in baskets graced
the chancel of the United Church,
when the minister, Rev. E, W, Todd,
who has returned from vacation,
took up his work. From the
11th chapter of St. Matthews Gospel,
he chose the text "Come unto me all
ye that labour and are heavy laden
and I will give you rest." Mrs, Lyle
Brothers was organist and the choir
sang an anthem, Mr. Todd announced
that Salem congregation will continue
to hold 10 a.m. services for the month
of September.
Friends of Mr. George Timm will
regret to learn he is a patient in
Wingham General Hospital and will
wish him a speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. William Doherty and
family are spending a few days here
