Fifty years ago Mr. Inglis and Miss Jennie Mac- Kenzie, daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs. Alexander' MacKenzie of Kinloss were married at South Kinloss Manse, Lueknow, by Rev. McLennan, The happy couple spent their honeymoon at the Toronto Exhibition, To them were born nine children, seven of whom are living, and attended the VII111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111/1 a 4 a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a 1 1 wedding dinner on Tuesday, The fam- ily present were: Mr. and Mrs. Mae- Laren Inglis of Highgate, Mr, and Mrs. Alexander Inglis of Stellarton, N. S., Mr, and Mrs. Roderick Inglis and family of Forest, Mr. and Mrs. John Inglis and family of Petrolia, and Tom at home. Also present were: Mr, and Mrs, (Betty) Flannigan of Toronto, and Mr. and Mrs. (Pauline) Adams of Wawanosh. They have eight grand, children. Many friends gathered around them on Tuesday evening and Harold, their young helper from Es- tonia, kept up the music with his splendid piano accordian. Dawson and other rela- tives from this district attended the funeral of Mrs. Tiles. Henderson in Listowel on Wednesday last. Mrs. Henderson was in her seventy-fourth year and was twice married. First to Arthur Wells, who predeceased her over twenty years ago, and seven years ago to Mr. Henderson, who sur- vives her. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, with Rev. Dahms officiat- ing, Mr. Henderson is visiting ,,this week with Mr. and Mrs, Dawson and other relatives in this community. Mrs. J. Wright of N. Toronto, visited on Thursday last at the home of her sister, Mrs. Russell Chapman, her daughter, Joyce, who had been vielt- ing here for the past two weeks re- turned home with her. Gary Chapman who had spent the holidays with his uncle, Mr. Nelson Smith of Markham, returned home with Mrs. Wright. Ka and Mrs. Wm, Mitchell, Carol and. Miss Catharine McCarthy, who had been visiting , for two weeks at the home of her sister, Mrs, Louis Dalton, returned to Detroit last Tuesday. Her nephew, Mr. Harry McCarthy, and three boys from Detroit spent the week-end there. Mr. Philip Austin, who motored from his home at Lor- raine, Ohio, also visited at the Dalton home last week. Mrs. Campbell and Misses Barbara and Jean of London, spent the week- end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ross. Don't forget the Grandmothers' meeting of the Women's Institute on Tuesday next in the Memorial Hall. An interesting program is being pre- pared and the ladies will please bring lunch. Mr. Young has been laid up,• during the past six weeks with a heart condition, Mr. Adam McBurney returned to his teaching potition in Kingston last week, Miss Laurette McBurney of East Wawanosh, who is a teacher in Cal- gary, has received word that schools there will not re-open fof some time on account of the polio menace, Mrs. Frank Thompson left on Fri- day to motor with her daughter, Mrs. Jack Siebert, from Toronto to the latter's new home in Montreal. Mrs. Bert Martin of Hamilton, was at the door and Mrs. Munro was in charge of th register. Miss Eleanor Carson was in charge of the trousseau. Mrs. Fred Bowker, Toronto, aunt of Miss Wylie showed household linens, china, silver and kitchen equipment. United Church Service Lovely gladioli in baskets graced the chancel of the United Church, when the minister, Rev. E, W, Todd, who has returned from vacation, took up his work. From the 11th chapter of St. Matthews Gospel, he chose the text "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest." Mrs, Lyle Brothers was organist and the choir sang an anthem, Mr. Todd announced that Salem congregation will continue to hold 10 a.m. services for the month of September. Friends of Mr. George Timm will regret to learn he is a patient in Wingham General Hospital and will wish him a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. William Doherty and family are spending a few days here with old friends and acquaintances.' Mr. Doherty, now of Sudbury, was some years ago employed by Harvey McMichael, Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Gibson spent the week-end at Algonquin Park, in the Haliburton district.
