Mrs. Lyle Simmons, the former Lois
Hambly, whose marriage took place
Saturday, August 23, was honored at
several pre-nuptial parties. The C.G.
I.T. girls at their meeting at Mar-
garet Brown's home presented, her
with gifts. Mrs. Simmons was leader
of the Beanies. She also received a
pantry shelf shower. The Bank of
Commerce staff, of which she was a
member, presented her with an elec-
tric tea kettle. On Wednesday eve-
ning her mother, Mrs. F. Hambly, en-
tertained in her honor at a trousseau
tea.

with Mrs. Bella. Greaves for several
days last week,

A double-ring ceremony at Fordwich
United Church, on Saturday, united
in marriage Lois Doreen Hutchison,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas

Rev. W. R. Tristram performed
the ceremony in a setting of gladioli
and ferns. The wedding music was
played by Miss Violet Beswetherick.
The soloist was Miss Vern Nuhn.
The bride wore a gown of nylon
net over slipper satin with bodice of
Swiss embroidered lace which extend-
ed over the padded hipline in an apron
effect. The semi-ioff-the-shoulder
neckline was edged with pleated, tulle,
A crown of seed pearls held her
three-quarter length veil of illusion
net. She carried a bouquet of deep
red roses.
Miss Marjorie Felkar, Listowel, was
maid of honour. She wore a mauve
nylon net and brocaded satin gown
with shoulder cape and carried a
nosegay of yellow baby mums.
Miss Marjorie Nuhn wore pale green
and Miss Florence Ashley wore yel-
low, as bridesmaids. Their flowers
were pink and mauve baby mums.
The best man was Mr. William
Hutchison, brother of the bride, The
ushers were Mr. Bruce McClement,
cousin of the bride and Mr. Howard
Ludwig, cousin of the groom.
A reception was held in the church
parlor. The mother of the bride wore
a navy sheer dress with pink carna-
tion corsage. The mother of the bride-
groom wore a navy sheer dress with
white carnation corsage.
The bride wore a gray wool suit
with red accessories and red rose
corsage for a trip to ; Northern Ont-
ario. The couple will reside in Lis-
towel.

The young ladies of the Baptist
Church met at the home of Mrs, Earl
Weitz for the August meeting of the
Mission Circle, The president, Mrs,
Bruce McLean, presided •
The opening hymn, "At the Cross",
was sung and the president opened
with prayer. The minutes of the pre-
vious meeting were read and roll call
was answered by a verse of Scripture,
after which business was discussed,
Miss Frances Aitken gave the
devotional, which was very interest-
ing. Mrs. Merrill danteloon sang
"Blessed Assurance". Those partici-
pating in prayer were Mrs, Earl
Weitz, Mrs. Reg, Collar -and Mrs. Al-
vin Procter.
The topic of the evening was Japan.
A very interesting letter was read
from one of the missionaries, Miss
Thelma Clark, in Japan. Miss Mild-
red Jones read a very interesting ar-
ticle from Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Brown.
All joined in singing "He's a Wonder-
ful Saviour to Me". Miss Vivian Mc-
Lean read a chapter from the study
book, after which •all joined in sing-
ing "Tell Me the Old, Old Story" and
Marjory Scott closed with prayer. A
dainty lunch was served and all en
joyed a time of fellowship.
