a number of the guests present.
Moving pictures, depicting hunting
on Manitoulin Island and Pelee
Island as well as a trip to Florida,
were shown by Frank Field of Tees-
water and added to the enjoyment
of the evening. The serving of ice
cream marked the end of the pro-
gramme.
Lenten Prayer Service
At 8 p.m., Thursday, a Lenten Pray-
er Service will be held in St.
Stephen's Anglican Church, with Rev.
G. D. Vogan, the rector in charge,
Red Cross Quilting
Wednesday's rain did not prevent
about sixty ladies from attending a
quilting, arranged by local Red Cross
workers, in the Sunday School room
of the United Church. Work con-
tinued late into the evening as well as
in the afternoon until 13 quilts had
been completed.

In spite of slippery roads and
blustery weather, a large congre-
gation shared in the Sacrament of
Baptism Sunday morning, The fol-
lowing children were presented for
baptism: Larke Eleanore Carson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick
Carson; Reta Jean Adams, daughter
of Mr, and Mrs, Geo. Adams; Barry
Edgar Dane, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Edgar Dane; Kay Elaine Wood,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robt.
Wood; and Evelyn Alice Thornton,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Thornton. The minister Rev. R. Watt
officiated.
Young People
By popular request, the Young
People are presenting their play,
"Aaron Slick from Punkin Crick" this
Friday night in the Community Hall.
Between acts, an interesting feature
will be the showing of some colored
slides of last year's school parade at
the Fall Fair.
Former Rector to go to U.S.
Rev, John L. Ball, Kincardine, is
leaving in May to become rector of
the Church of the Good Shepherd at
Scranton, Pa, Mr. Ball was a former
rector of the parish of Gerrie, Ford-
wich and Wroxeter, during the years
1939-42. He left this charge to be-
come chaplain in the army and serv-
ed overseas. He has been rector of
the Church of Messiah in Kincardine
for the past four and a half years.
Woman's Association
The regular monthly meeting of the
Woman's Association was held at the
home of Mrs. Allen Hyndman on
Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Thos. Earl
presided for the Worship service for
Group 3.
The meeting opened with the Lord's
prayer in unison. The Scripture
reading was taken from John 19:17-22
and was read by Mrs. A. Thornton.
The hymn, "When I survey the Won-
drous Cross", was sung and Mrs.
Allan Hyndman offered prayer. A
reading was given by Mrs. Percy
Ashton followed by singing, "Jesus
Keep me Near the Cross". Mrs.
Gordon Edgar, Vice President, had
charge of the business session. The
meeting closed with Hymn 364 repeat-
ed in unison.
The hostess, assisted by Mrs. Russel
Adams and Mrs. John Hutchison,
served refreshments.
Miss Margaret Campbell, Glamis,
who has been spending the winter
months with Mrs. F. C. Taylor, suf-
fered a severe stroke on Saturday
morning and was removed by ambu-
lance to Wingham Hospital.
Residents X-rayed at Wingham
Hospital
Mr. Len Ratan, who injured his
ankle at a hockey match in Clifford,'
had it X-rayed at Wingham Hospital
on Tuesday morning, which showed
a broken bone in his ankle. He is
wearing a cast.
Gerald Downey is also wearing a
cast on his right arm„ X-rays having
shown a chip off his elbow bone.
Mr, Harry Ferguson had X-rays of
his knee and no broken bones were
shown but he is confined to bed,
Mr. Harvey Sperling had X-rays of
his shoulder which has been very

Mrs. Harold Robinson is visiting in
Toronto.

gathering in honor of their parents'
fifty-eighth wedding anniversary, (a
misprint last week gave it as fifty)
which was held at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. W. C, King.

spent the week-end with Mrs. Etta
Day,
Mr. and Mrs, Jas. Barton, Drayton,
visited Friday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Jas. Edwards,
Mr. and Mrs, Robt. Harrison visited
Mr. and Mrs, Elgin Fulton, Harr Aston,
on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs, T. Li McInnes attend-
ed the 25th wedding anniversary
celebration of the former's brother,
John McInnes and Mrs. McInnes, at
Kinlough on Friday„ March 14th,
when about 75 guests were in at-
tendance.
Prize winners for high scores at the
L.O.L.' Euchre on Wednesday evening
of last week were Mrs. Justin Will
and Gordon Underwood. There were
7 tables.
Mrs. Harry Jennings returned last
week to her home in Brantford after
spending some time with her mother,
home of her parents, Mr. and Mr&
Murray Edgar. She was accompanied
by Miss Wilson of Clinton.

Miss Eleanore Edgar of Clinton
spent Thursday and Friday at the
Gorrie United Church did the cater-
ing and provided a meal which was
much enjoyed.
The guest speaker was John
Cruickshank, manager of CKNX,
radio station, who gave a brief out-
line of the station's history dating
back to 1926 and the setup 0; the
various departments required to op-
erate a commercial station. Follow-

was the subject taken up. Miss Edgar
will conduct this course for any girls
in the Gorrie district who may wish
to take it.
Mrs. W. J. Greer and Mrs. Hinde
of Wingham visited on Saturday with
Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Holmes and Miss
Perkins.
The Presbyterian W.M.S. held a
meeting on Thursday at the home of
Mrs. F. C. Taylor,
