They're dodging the upper more frigid water near the ice, and so can't be caught, 0 - 0 - 0 The officers of a fighter squadron at St, Hubert, Quebec, have made a substantial contribution towards the betterment of empire relations .It's a box of cigars for Winston Chur- chill, 0 - 0 - 0 It seems there are some highly or- iginal ways of, getting hurt while dancing. For instance, a sixteen-year- old higir, school boy kicked so high he broke his own nose while dancing a "Bebop" number at a' school party. 0 - 0 - 0 The proprietor of a restaurant thought he had solved the burglar problem, But thieves got in and broke into his safe' just the same, He had hidden the safe in the ladies' rest room. In the Quebec police court, the judge smiled. He was sympathetic with the need that drove the accused to steal a case of vichy water. The judge said that after the holidays and all 'Ile spirit that oheers, he could quite understand. But his sym- pathy didn't stop him passing sen- tence. Our hero got four months, 0 0 - 0 Montreal residents have been wad- ing feet deep in snow these last few weeks. (Who hasn't) and the snow removal people are wading beck-high into their budget to keep the white stuff down. Officials say if Montreal gets as much 'snow from now as it had in the same period last year, they'll have to hunt around for some extra cash. Alas, Only the weather- man can save Montreal from an extra-million dollar bill for snow removal. (Little Jack Frost get lost,) 0 - 0 - 0 ,The Quebec Provincial Police think it may be the mountain air, They believe it coule.be the nip in the Laurentians that's stimulating vic- tims of —crime to turn the table on their attackers, Last week we told ou of it St, Eustache garage pro- prietor who tricked four armed hold- up men into surrender. Last week a cabbie drove two young thugs at gran point into the arms of police at St, Andre, Later, the boys were charged with having tried to rob the taximan with violence. 0 - 0 - 0 For the past ten years, Foster Clark of Ashland, Ohio, has been swelling the blood bank of the Red Cross, and breaking one of the Red Cross's basic rules. The Red Cross has a ceiling of five pints of blood from any one person in a year. But in the past 21 years Clark has given 203 pints of blood or an average of 10 per, year. Clark circumvented the five pint rule by alternating his don- ations between Ashland and Mans- field, Ohio, The enthusiastic blood donor says he feels no ill effects from his excessive giving. He says he re- plenishes the steady drain on his blood stream with a diet of raw liver, poached egg and cream cheese. 0 - 0 - 0 When a Montreal Wei laic got a call to act as blood donor she refused it. She told the Red Cross depot that eighty per cent of the blood in her body had just been put there from the blood bank itself. She'd had to have 28 bottles of the life-giving fluid dumped into her veins to coun- teract the effects of six bad hemorr- hages. But, she says she'll be ready with her blood again just as soon as she's strong enough to give another donation. OOOO lllllll llllll $11 lllll 1.111110 lllllllllllll 11,11111111111111 lllllll MR. A.
