The Citizen, 1990-11-21, Page 33Beverages CROCK POT, HOT MULLED CRANBERRY 4 cups cranberry juice cocktail 4 cups apple cider 1 /2 cup sugar 1 orange studded with whole cloves 2-3 inch cinnamon sticks Garnish: orange slices or extra cinammon sticks. Combine all ingredients in a crock pot a simmer for several hours. Serve in warmed mugs. This is good laced with rum! Lois van Vliet Blyth. CRANBERRY LIQUEUR 2 cups fresh cranberries 1 % cups white sugar 1 cup gin or vodka 112 tsp, vanilla Coarsely chop cranberries. Place in a wide mouthed jar. Add sugar, liquor and vanilla. Seal. Leave at room temperature. Stir gently every day for a week. Stir once a week for next three weeks. Strain, bottle and seal. Lois van Vliet Blyth. GRAPEFRUIT SIPPER 21/? cups Cranberry Juice Cocktail 112 cup Grapefruit Juice 10 juniper berries 112 cup water In a large pitcher, combine cranberry and grapefruit juice. Set aside. In a small saucepan, combine juniper berries and 1/2 cup water. Simmer for 15 minutes in covered saucepan. Strain. Add liquid to cranberry and grapefruit juice mix­ ture. Stir well and serve over ice. Serves 4.
