Phone 523-4360 Londesboro UCW hears of trip to Scotland The October meeting of Londes­ boro U.C.W. was held at the church at 8 p.m. on Monday, October 15. President Kittie McGregor open­ ed the meeting with the Purpose. The treasurer’s report was given by Dorothy Tamblyn. Kittie McGregor gave a report on the meeting at Pierce Williams Retreat at Fingal on Oct. 1. It was moved by Reta Kelland and seconded by Margaret Good to give a quilt to Friendship House in Goderich. Donations were given to several organizations. The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved. A thank you card was read from Ross Leiper. Betty Hulley gave the report about meals to be done before the end of this year. There are four of them. Collection and birthday pennies were taken up. The worship service was conducted by Reta Kelland and Betty Millar. “The Pay Thou Gavest’’ was sung. Reta Kelland read the scripture and Psalm 23. The Lord’s Prayer was repeated in unison. “Sing to the Lord of Harvest’’ was sung. Reta read “10 steps to brighten your life today” and a resolution. Betty introduced Margaret Tay­ lor who spoke about her trip to England and Scotland in June of this year. She had several souven­ irs to show. Reta Kelland thanked her and presented her with a church mug. Grace was sung and prayer repeat­ ed in unison. Lunch was served by Janet Hulley, Audrey Thompson, Helen Lawson and Edythe Beacom. Bren­ da Radford had a book display. Baptism planned next Sunday at Londesboro United Church Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, October 21 were Bob and Audrey Thompson. Ushers were Bill Bromley, Cliff Saundercock and Dennis Penfound. Flowers at the front were in memory of Lome Lawson, placed by the Lawson family. The choir sang an anthem. The sermon topic was “Peace - a costly Business”. Sacrament of Baptism will be held next Sunday. Senior Youth Group will meet Thursday evening, October 25 from 8 - 11 p.m. at Hullett School for a Halloween Dance. Admission will be $1 if vou are wearing a costume, $2 if you are not. Members are welcome to bring one friend each. Next Sunday the sermon topic is “No Hungry Folks Here”. Bible Study will be held Tuesday afternoon October 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Don and Lois Haines, Auburn. The Life and Work Committee of Londesboro Church held bowling at Clinton Crown Lanes on Sunday, October 21 at 2 p.m. Two games were played. Prizes were given to: men’s high, Garnett Wright; grandmother’s high, Reta Kelland; mother’s high, Florence Cart­ wright; men’s low, Ted Fothergill; ladies’ low, Grace Butlar; child’s best score, Girl, Katie McGregor; boy, Trevor Trewartha; most gutter balls, Elizabeth McGregor; most strikes, children, Blair Trewartha; birthday closest to Christmas, lady, Joyce Bean; man, Gerbin Wilts; child, Robbie Archambault.
