Amy Shortreed, a Grade 3 student at Walton Public School holds up one of the turtle eggs she and her father found in a field last week. Devotions were on the theme Thanksgiving for the Walton II unit meeting held at the home of Marilyn McDonald on Wednesday afternoon. The meeting was led by Karen Hoegy and Helen Craig on the theme on Thanksgiving taken from the United Church Observer. Max­ ine Houston presided for the business opening with a poem, “Autumn”. Margaret Craig read the minutes. There were 10 ladies present. Margaret Bennett gave the treasurer’s report. It was reported Heritage Books and Church calendars are now available and members should save their store tapes and soup labels. In the announcements, dates to remember are Dedication Sunday, Nov. 4, also Baptism. Members discussed the Turkey Supper com- ing up on Wednesday, Nov. Communion Sunday is Dec. Christmas Eve Service is to be held this year at Bluevale United Church at 7:30 p.m. A committee was chosen to help clean the church kitchen on Nov. 1 at 9 a.m. A social time followed the busi­ ness with lunch served by the hostess Marilyn McDonald and Vera McDonald. The next meeting in Nov. will be held at the home of Helen Craig. Visiting Ruth Thamer on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. John Thamer, Kitchener and Mr. and Mrs. John Uyl, Blyth. Several people from other com­ munities attended the Anniversary Service, Sunday at Cranbrook Pres­ byterian Church when the guest minister was Rev. Rodger Mc­ Eachern and special music was supplied by a quartet from Atwood. 7. 2. WI luncheons The Walton Women’s Institute have started their monthly noon .luncheons with a very successful hot beef meal last Wednesday. Berva Watson and Helen Craig were in charge. The hall basement was decorated for the occasion in the Halloween Theme. The next noon luncheon will be held on the third Wednesday of November. Posters of the menu will be posted out prior to that week. Obituaries LESLIE NELSON NICHOLSON Blyth resident Leslie Nelson Nicholson died suddenly at his residence on Thursday, October 11, 1990. He was in his 81st year. Mr. Nicholson was the beloved brother of Norman and Gladys Nicholson of Atwood and Wallace and Shirley Nicholson of Morris Twp. He was predeceased by his brother Charles.
