There’s plenty to do and see during the
three days of the 29th annual Huron
Pioneer Thresher and Hobby Association
Reunion ranging from plenty of old-tyme
music to craft displays to the daily parade
of the tractors and equipment on display
to, of course, the threshing and sawmill
demonstrations by the big steam engines

The entertainment begins even before
the Thresher Reunion opens with a fiddle
jam session at the steel shed Thursday
evening with Lois Hodgins as MC.
The show opens Friday at 9 a.m. with a
special day for senior citizens and the
handicapped. Admission for those groups
is only $1 (admission for the other two days
is $3 per person).
The Huron Strings will perform from
1-1:30 and 2-2:30 at the stage beside the
arena. This is part of the variety program
that continues from 1 to 4 p.m. At 4:30 the
daily parade will take place. The craft show
in the arena and the flea market outside
will be on all day.
Friday night the Jamboree will take
place in the arena auditorium from 7:30 to

that gives fiddlers a chance to perform.
Saturday the events begin off the
grounds bright and early with the Blyth

location the Goderich Jug Band will
entertain.
At 2 p.m. at the arena stage, the fiddlers
competition will begin. From 2-3 the
clowns and puppets will entertain in the
arena auditorium.
At 3 p.m. the popular threshing demon

grounds. Driven by one of the huge steam
engines, the threshing machine gobbles up
sheaves and spits out straw to the delight
of crowds that gather.
For the youngsters who want to try their
hand (or feet) at competition there will be a
pedal-tractor pull at 3:30 on the Radford
ball diamond.
Of course during the day there are other
old farm jobs demonstrated such as the
shingle mill and the steam-powered saw
mill, one of the most popular displays at
the Thresher Reunion year after year. At
4:30 all the tractors, steam engines and
cars parade past the reviewing stand.
Throughout the day from 11:30 a.m. to 7
