N0M 1H0 Cooks busy preparing for cooking contest Just how many ways can you cook a rutabaga? We’ll find out Saturday when the first Blyth Rutabaga Cooking Contest will be held. Saturday morning the cooking contest will take place at Memorial Hall from 10 to 12 with prizes in four categories. Janet Lawrie and Bonnie Roy will judge the cake division. Duncan McGregor and Judy Farthing will judge the pie division while Jennifer Souttiaux and Deanna Lyon will judge the muffin and loaf division. John and Doreen Rutledge will judge the competition for the most creative recipe using rutabaga. The prize winning entries will be auctioned off after the parade. Also immediately following the parade, ruta­ baga recipe samplings will be sold at 50 cents each with coffee available in the basement of Memorial Hall. Trophies for the prize-winning entries will be handed out Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. at the Lions Park. Entry forms for the contest are available at the Blyth Village Office, Scrimgeour’s Food Market or at The Citizen.
