Phone 887-9487 Flowers decorate church for anniversary service A profusion of early summer flowers in the sanctuary, vestibule and porch made a most attractive setting for the Sunday School anniversary at Belgrave United Church on Sunday, June 17. The central front pews were reserved for the younger children and their teachers. Each scholar wore a pansy corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Elgie of Wingham assisted by their daugh ter, Becky, conducted the service for the capacity congregation com mencing with “sing-a-long hymns.” An organ and piano prelude was presented by Mrs. Elizabeth Proc ter and Mrs. Sylvia Procter. Offer tory stewards were Andrew Potter, Tim Coultes, Steven Nixon and Kenneth Procter. The children’s choir sang “We come to Praise Him”, with organ accompaniment. Scripture pass ages Mark 10: 13-16 “Jesus Wel comes the children”; Matt 18: 10-14, Genesis 7: 1-5, “The Flood” were read by Jim Piluke, Jayne Vincent and Marilyn McLean re spectively. Each lesson was followed by a story. In her first story Mrs. Elgie named various things which go together as: hats and heads, saus age and beans, chicken and barbe cue, but most important Jesus and Us. Secondly she told of parables. She stated that farmers tell para bles related to cows and corn or farm-related ideas. Jesus talked of sheep. He’ll always find us and care for us. At this point Becky Elgie sang, “The Shepherd of Your Heart”. Mr. Elgie chose, “Praise God: He Loves You” as the focal point of the third message. God spoke to Noah using the rainbow as a sign of His covenant. God cares for us in Michie reunion held On Saturday, June 16, members of the Michie family met at the Women’s Institute hall for a family reunion.
