Couple marks golden day Iiondesboro On Wednesday, May 29, 1940, Audrey Hamilton and Robert Thompson were married in Moore­ field United Church with the recep­ tion at the bride’s home. Fifty years later they celebrated this anniversary on Saturday with their family and friends at the Londes- boro Church by hosting an Open House. Tea was served by Genevieve Allen, Helen Lee, Clara Riley and Florence Snell. At the family dinner that followed the guests included their best man, brother Vaudyn, the bridesmaid Evelyn Gordon of Kitchener, Irene Ham­ mond the soloist and Helen Match- ett the pianist. Bob and Audrey were thrilled by the response to the open house and overwhelmed by the gifts and good wishes they received. People attend anniversary celebrations The best wishes of the commun­ ity are extended to Bob and Audrey Thompson on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. An open house was held for them on Saturday afternoon at the church. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Lyon, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lyon, Mrs. Laura Lyon and sister Edythe Beacom attended the 40th wedding anni­ versary of Bob and Isabelle Brem- ner at Brussels Community Centre on Saturday evening. Pancake breakfast, June 10 Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, May 27 were Garnet and Margaret Wright. Ush­ ers were Lindsey Salverda, Jenni­ fer Szusz, Karen Bergsma and Murray Whyte. It was Communion Sunday. The sermon topic was “As We Forgive Those who Sin against Us”. Bible Study will be held at Gail Dobies in Auburn on Friday, June 1 at 1:30 p.m. Next Sunday, June 3 will be promotion of Sunday School child­ ren. Sunday, June 10 a pancake breakfast will be held by the Sunday School before the service. Junior choir practice is on Satur­ day, June 2 at 10 a.m. Music night inspirational An inspirational hour of scripture and music was very much enjoyed by all present at Londesboro church on Sunday evening when the sing-a-long with the Blyth Festival Singers, an evening of gospel hymns, was held. Greeters were Harry Lear and Berty Lyon. A special thanks is to be extended to Director Angus Sinclair, Carol Carter, Rob Hutch­ inson and the other Festival singers and soloist Pam Gethke for such a good evening of song. The couple was married at Moorefield on May 29, 1940. For many years they operated Thompson’s General Store in Londesboro. They received congratulations from Governor General Ray Hnatyshyn among others. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to each and every resident of Londesboroughfor the wonderful barbeque; it was a perfect gift. Your thoughtfulness and generosity is greatly appreciated.
