Valuable players Three valuable members of the Brussels Bulls Jr. C hockey team were honoured at the team’s annual banquet Saturday night in Brussels. Goaltender Murray Foxton (left) was voted Most Valuable Player during the season while J. C. Hewitt, (centre) and goaltender Jeff Roy were named co-winners of the award for the most valuable playoff performers. Bob McMillan was named first winner of the Mike Vincent Memorial Award for dedication and Marty Rutledge (right) was the scoring leader as well as winning the league scoring title and most valuable player awards. Brussels past zone reps honoured Sports Bulls honour their best BY SANDRA JOSLING On March 31, Goderich Legion Br. 109 held a banquet to honour and award past zone representa­ tives. Elliott, past Deputy zone comman­ der, and past zone membership chairman and Glen Bridge, past deputy zone commander. After- the banquet a dance was held where everyone enjoyed them­ selves. On April 7 a dart tournament was held in the Brussels Legion. Win­ ners were Dave Adams and Diane Engel, first and Barry Engel and Barb Dunbar second. The next dart day will be Saturday, April 21 at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome. On Friday, April 20, the Legion Lounge will be having a pub night. Anyone with an interest in croki- nole, darts, euchre, cribbage or WAY TO GO! CRUSADERS! The executive of the Crusaders team wishes to congratulate each and every player of the tea for a job well done. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE W.O.A.A. GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP for the ’89-’9O season. The Brussels Jr. C Bulls held their annual Awards Banquet and Dance Saturday night at the Brus­ sels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. Following a delicious roast beef ‘ dinner served by the B.M. & G. catering ladies, President of the Bulls Steve Coulter spoke on the year’s achievements and made special mention of the club’s sponsors who donated towards the operating cost of the team for the past season. As well thanks was given to all the behind the scenes help, includ­ ing the bus drivers, who gave their time while Marlene Rutledge and Gord Jacklin were presented with plaques of appreciation for holding the overlooked positions of time keeper and official scorer. In a special presentation a watch, donated in the memory of Mike Vincent, a five-year veteran of the Bulls who was tragically killed in a car accident last summer was presented to Bob McMillan. The award is presented to Bob McMil­ lan. The award is presented by the Bulls executive to the player who best eptimozes the words “desire” and “team” effort. Player individual awards were presented as follows: •The leading scorer trophy ws given to Marty Rutledge who dominated league scoring stats in winning the Western Jr. C scoring championship and League M.V.P. trophies. •Steve Fritz was named Rookie of the Year. •Jamie Gibbings was the choice for most improved player while Bevin Flett took home the top defenceman award. J. C. Hewitt and Jeff Roy shared the playoff M.V.P. while Murray Foxton was the winner of the Bulls’ most Valuable Player award. The coaches’ award, donated by Joe and Lin Steffler was presented to Captain Ron Strome while overage players Mike Bettles, J. C. Hewitt, Bob McMillan, Marty Rut­ ledge and Ron Strome were honoured with plaques. The players then took over and presented coaches Hugh Nichol and Scott Rutherford, Manager billiards is welcome to attend.
