Phone 887-6645 WI elects officers The Honourable Murray Elston, the Minister of Financial Institu­ tions and the Chairman of the Management Board of CAbinet, will be in Clinton on April 26 to speak on Ontario’s new no-fault car insurance bill. Stuart Stevenson is a patient in Wingham hospital following an appendectomy on Wednesday night and is recovering nicely. Garnet Starr and Joyce Brown, Wallaceburg, visited on the Easter weekend with Don and Mrs. Cot­ ton. on at- on Mr. Elston, who is a native of Huron County, and now represents the riding of Bruce in the Ontario Legislature, will be the guest speaker at the annual meeting of the Huron Provincial Liberal Riding Association when they meet at the Clinton Legion to elect a new executive. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. with supper. The new car insurance bill, which has been stalled on its journey through the Ontario Legis­ lature by the NDP, will keep in check substantial increases in car insurance premiums, says Mr. Elston, while guaranteeing imme­ diate financial benefits to those in need, and still ensuring a recourse through the courts for those more seriously injured. “I think we’re going in the right direction with this new bill, and I know when people hear Mr. El­ ston’s explanation, it will clear up many misconceptions,” said Huron MPP Jack Riddell, who will intro­ duce Mr. Elston. COURT WOODBINE The April meeting of Court Woodbine M100 of the Canadian Order of Foresters was held April 10 in Cranbrook Hall. Brother Melbum Hudson tended and spoke to the court the changes regarding the Consti­ tution. The court will take part in the bowling tournament on April 22 in London. The court is having card parties in the Cranbrook Hall on April 20 and 27. It was decided to donate $25 to the local Cancer Society. It was reported that Sister Linda Morton is in the hospital. Sister Isabel Craig and Brother Bill Craig served lunch. The 50-50 draw was won by Brother Mac McIntosh. The meeting closed in harmony. At this meeting members learn­ ed the difference between micro­ waving and baking breads. In the kitchen they split into groups and made hot-cross buns and pretzels. They closed the meeting with the 4H motto. The sixth meeting was held at the home of Priska Menzi. Members opened the meeting with the 4H pledge and the roll call was answered by eight members. They each made a recipe of bread or rolls for the Bread Fair. All entries were enjoyed by every­ one. The achievement night is at Grey Central School April 23 at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. MEETS The April meeting of the W.M.S. of Knox Presbyterian Church was held on April 11 at 8:15 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Jack Knight with eight members present. Mrs. Stewart Steiss opened the meeting with an Easter reading after which Hymn 178 “When I survey the wondrous cross” was sung. All joined in reading John chp. 20, verses 1-31. Mrs. Steis led in an interesting account of the life of each of the 12 disciples with questions and answers. A prayer followed and Hymn 188 “Hallelu- jah! Hallelujah!” was sung with '' Mrs. Steiss at the piano. Mrs. W. Strickler conducted the business in the absence of the president, Mrs. Stuart Stevenson. Mrs. Murray Crawford read the minutes and Mrs. Jim Hart the treasurer’s report. An invitation was received to Atwood on May 2 at 8 p.m. when slides on the Philippines will be shown. Cards and visits were recorded. The roll call was a verse on “Spring”. Two members paid birthday money. An interesting reading on “Islam” was given by Mrs. Crawford. Mrs. Jack Knight conducted a brief meeting of the Ladies’ Aid when a committee was appointed for the garage sale, to be held probably early in June. She also reported on the new carpet being purchased for the church. All repeated the Mizpah Bene­ diction in closing. A social time followed over lunch served by Mrs. John A.
