Phone 887-6677 Walton students present a colourful concert Due to the rather blustery wea­ ther on Thursday, the day set for the Walton Public School concert, the concert was held over till Friday, Dec. 22. A large crowd of parents, grand­ parents and friends attended the concert in the basement of Duff’s United Church. The pupils put on a splendid concert with the theme: “A Rain­ bow Christmas”. Thanks is also due to their teachers and music teacher. The program consisted of Christ­ mas narrators Melissa Harrison and Theresa McClory for the grade two number, ‘‘The Purple People: stories are the best part of Christ­ mas”. Narrators Alicia Dalton and Ja­ son MacDonald told the first Fa­ vourite Story: ‘‘Nez Rouge”. Rein­ deer were Corey Culbert, Wendy Glauser, Sandra McNicholl, Janice McCallum, Trevor Ward, Theresa Pryce, Chris Siemon, Amy Short­ reed, Trevor Gibbons. In the second Favourite Storey, “Frosty the Snowman”, Frosty was Brian Hawks; Little Girl, Melissa Dube. In the third Favourite Story, “The Grinch who stole Christmas”, the Grinch was Dennis Rijkhoff; Ralph the dog, Justin McQuire; Cindy - you-who, Amy Lioness. In the fourth Favourite Story, “Our Own”, the play was perform­ ed by Alicia Dalton, Pam Elliott, Jillian Houston, Amy Shortreed. In the fifth Favourite Story, “The Real Meaning of Christmas”, Joseph was played by Ben Finlay­ son; Mary, Amy Lioness; three wise men, Corey Culbert, Trevor Ward, Trevor Gibbons; Shepherds, Janice McCallum, Theresa Pryce, Todd Smith; sheep, Sandra Mc­ Nicholl, Chris Siemon; Purple People Rainbow Makers, Brad Somerville, Matthew McLellan. The Kindergarten “B” number introduction was by Aaron Barker. The five little evergreens were Brian Dolmage, Ashley Den Haan, Bradley Crawford, Erin Beuerman, Nicholas Elligsen. In the “Biggest Most Beautiful Christmas Tree” the trees were: Brian Dolmage, Ryan Harnack, Bradley Crawford; Mouse, Kenny McCallum; Chipmunks, Chad Somerville, Nicholas Elligsen; Girls, Amanda Vick, Ashley Den Haan, Erin Beuerman; Squirrel, Brandi Williamson; Santa, Michael Beuerman; Closing, Aaron Barker. The kindergarten “A” introduc­ tion was by Kellsey Huard and Adam Coombs. The song “What shall we have for Christmas din­ ner” was performed by Scott McDonald, John Glauser, Jeffery Linton, Darrell McClure, Jennifer Arthur, Stephanie Harrison, Kris McNichol and Daniel Boyd. Every­ one sang the song “Christmas Cookies” followed by a poem on Christmas cookies by Ashley O’Re­ gan and Melissa Badley. The play “The Gingerbread Man” was play­ ed by: Gingerbread man, Matthew Hill; farmer, John Glauser; wife, Ashley O’Regan; woodcutter, Scott McDonald; bear, Jennifer Arthur; fox, Daniel Boyd. Other members were Kris McNichol, Adam Coombs, Stephanie Harrison, Melissa Badley, Darrell McClure, Jeffery Linton and closing by Kellsey Huard. The choir sang “Go Tell the Children” and Merry Christmas Time-Ee-O”. The grade one number was “What Do I have to give?” Yellow people were Katie Emmrich, Kelly Macdonald, Amanda McClory and Leanne Den Haan; Little Tree, T. J. Sauerbrei; woodcutters, Chris Hill and Chris Blake; Skunk, Kassie, Joe Hoegy; Bear, Paul Linton; Mouse, Adam Koehler; Rabbits, Tammy McClure and Jody Vander- Veen; Deer, Katie Lubbers and Meagan Beuerman; Birds, Rose Peters and Cynthia McClure; Ra­ coon, Charlene Thompson; Porcu­ pine, Steven Wernham Seeback; Chipmunk, Bradley Lubbers; Mr. Owl, Joshua Horst. For the grade three number, “A Rainbow Christmas”, narrators were: Melissa Harrison and There­ sa McClory; Red people, Grade Three. Rainbow Drill consisted of Sarah McLellan, Carali, Abby Dietz, Melissa Harrison, Ellen Workman, Jennifer Lubbers, Shan­ non Gibbons. Tumbling was performed by Armand Dube, Kevin Bernard, Robbie Mitchell, Jamie Emmrich, Darrell Dalton, Nicholas Den Haan, Jason Thompson. Dancing round the Christmas Tree were Theresa McClory and Kerri McClure; Nicole Crawford and Carali McCall, Abby Dietz, Michelle Kuntz, Cor­ inne Leonhardt and Melissa Harri­ son. Everyone took part in Acros­ tic: What makes Christmas Merry. The choir closed the program singing “Every Little Wish”. BRUSSELS WINNERS Jayne Ross won a remote ★ O’ * -A ........... Women, who participated in our Save-a- ■ Tape program & received $63.78 to be used toward renovations of the church.I It was a joint meeting of the units of the United Church Women when 17 ladies met Wednesday evening for the first meeting in the New Year. Devotions were led by Doreen Hackwell by repeating the U.C.W Purpose. Marie McGavin was pianist for the hymn, “I know not what the future hath”. Scripture was read by Gloria Love followed by a meditation given by Marion God­ kin. The hymn, “Tis winter now, the fallen snow” was sung. Offer­ ing was received and dedicated. Gloria read a poem, “New Year’s Resolution”. Doreen closed this part of the meeting with prayer. Marie McGavin had the topic on Stewardship and Finance and showed a film strip on “The names of Money” showing the material McKillop Council sets remuneration by-law A by-law setting the remunera­ tion for McKillop township council­ lors and members of committees and boards was approved at the December 5 meeting of McKillop township council. Under the by-law Reeve Marie Hicknell will receive $1,825 while deputy-reeve will receive $1,525. Councillors will also receive $1,525. Members of local boards will receive $45 per meeting that is less than three hours. Meetings over three hours in length will bring an allowance of $80. things we need in life. Doreen Hack­ well read minutes in absence of Marilyn McDonald, then read a thank you card and attended to the correspondence. It was moved that the membership fees be the same as last year, and due by the end of February. It was suggested fees be collected at next month’s unit meeting. It was decided to have a Spring Daffodil Tea and bake table again this spring, with the tentative date set for April 21. Plans are to be made at a later meeting. Members are to save the Zehrs and Knechtel tapes and Campbell soup labels, A mileage rate of 27 cents per kilometre will be paid to members of council attending special meet­ ings of council, local board meet­ ings, meetings outside the town­ ship, seminars and conferences. Elected members of council will have an annual allowance of up to $1,000 for expenses incurred at conventions and seminars, provid­ ing expense receipts for councill­ ors and their spouses for accom­ modation, meals, and travel and registration for the spouse are provided. Dates for coming events were announced. Annual meetings will be follow­ ing a pot luck luncheon after church on Sunday, Jan. 21 at Bluevale; Sunday, Jan. 28 at Walton. Note that on Jan. 28 the service times will be changed with Bluevale having the early service at 9:55 a.m. Next month will be an executive meeting on Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Dorothy closed with prayer. Olene Dennis and Phyllis Mitchell served lunch during a time of fellowship. Duff’s UCW installed Installation of the U.C.W. took place at the morning service at Duff’s United. The minister Rev. Bonnie Cole Arnal in the pulpit. January ushers were Ray Huether, Graeme Craig and Ben Hoegy. Junior choir practice is on Thurs., Jan. 11 at 4:15 p.m. The board meeting was held at the home of Murray and Olene Dennis on Sunday evening. Walton WI plans luncheons The Walton Women’s Institute are planning for its noon luncheon, Jan. 17 at 11:30 a.m. Convenors are having hot beef this month with all the trimmings. ★
