ed so much to the betterment of
humanity, Mr. Tristram stressed
how grateful those who receive help
through the various missionary fields,
really are; and the great difference
that comes into their way of life as a
result, While we may not all be able
to contribute as Dr. Sweitzer and
others have done, we by our efforts
do make the missionary enterprise a
reality.

The Women's, Missionary Society
held their annual Thankoffering ser-
vice Sunday evening in the United
Church, with Rev. W. R. Tristram
of Fordwich as guest speaker. Hymn
"Jesus Shall Reign" opened the ser-
vice. The Scripture lesson taken from
1st Corinthians, 16, was read by Mrs.
Alex Taylor and expressed the chal-
lenge to all W.M.S. members "Watch,
stand fast in the Faith", Prayer by
Mrs. Irving Toner followed. The choir
sang "We've a story to tell, to the
nations". Rev, J. R. Watt dedicated
the offering and made the announce-
ment for the week ahead. The
hymn "We have heard the Joyful
Sound", followed after which Mrs. W.
W. Strong, president of the Auxiliary,
in a few gracious words introduced
Rev. Mr. Tristram.
Having spent some years in Africa,
Rev. Tristram had p. very personal
and challenging message. He stated
that our Christianity is both personal
and social, and that the, soctal aspect
is made real through the individual.
So many of the Parables which fea-
ture Jesus' ministry, deal with very
familiar social problems. He spoke
of Dr. Albert Sweitzer as a modern
illustration of one who has contribut-

as TIME IS SUCH A
PRECIOUS THING
Do you live the sort of life which
makes your time on Tuesday four
times as important as the same
number of hours on Monday?
Well that's the way we at The
Advance-Times carry on.
Our remarks are addressed to
those contributors of news and
advertising who insist on bring-
ing in their offerings on Tuesday
the, day we go to press. Each
week we are leaving a trail of
broken-hearted %vell-wishers who
expect us to accomplish the im-
possible at the last minute.
It is perfectly true that we do
accept some news and some ad-
vertising on Tuesday. But since
one newspaper can hold just so
much mid no more; and since one
staff can do only three days'
work in one, we are frequently
forced to leave out those items
which reach us at the last minute.
We do recognize the fact that
some news items and some ad-
vertising, for various reasons,
must be held over until Tuesday,
and when those reasons are legi-
timate we have no hesitation in
accepting them. It is the almost-
forgotten material which is held
over until next week.
