And with love ... from Mother and Dad . a very special
present, her own bank book showing a Christmas deposit.
Think about giving the ,`Juniors" at your house a
"Commerce" account of their own. You'll see what a happy
gift it is. Your teen-agers will feel so grown-up and impor-
tant. You'll know what a good gift it is—a personal account
encourages them to save
for what they want.
Remember, money-wise
boys and girls are more
understanding of their par-
ents' planning, better pre-
pared for their own future
responsibilities.

This week THEY TELL ME IT'S
TRUE centres around the "Deer"
season, by bringing you up to date
with a few of the "better" stories to
conic into the limelight.

Story number one comes from Bar-
rie. And it reads like this. Nicholas
Zaychowski, a Brantford hotel oper-
ator, seems destined to meet nature
the hard way .In September he nearly
capsized his boat hauling in the big-
gest black bass on record in Canada.
Last week he fought for 30 minutes
with a 240-pound deer maddened by
bullet wounds.

Zaychowski wounded the animal
near Madawaska, the scene of his
fishing triumph, He followed a trail
of blood for more titan a mile and
fired his last two shots at the deer,
missing it. "When I came within 10
feet, it turned on me and charged,"
he said "I dropped my rifle and
grabbed the antlers." After a strug-
gle in the waist-deep snow, Zaychow-
ski managed to hold the deer against
a tree until two Michigan hunters,
attracted by his cries, finished off
the deer with a jackknife.

Frank Teerkott of Waterloo, victim
of an unusual hunting accident is in
satisfactory condition in an Owen
Sound hospital after an operation.
Teerkott fell from a ladder while
helping to hang the carcass of a
buck. One of the buck's antlers pier-
ced his back.

With an open deer season in Grey
County most farmers took no chances
on leaving their cattle grazing in the
fields, But one Bentinck Township
farmer, however, left his out and
hunters were startled to read the
word "cow" painted on the sides of
bovines in his fields near the woods.

Jack Ewald, Neustadt hotel owner,
is having more than his share of
tough luck while hunting for deer in
the Moltke area. His tale of woe goes
like this. Walking through the
brush, he spotted a buck, a doe and
a fawn about 50 feet away. He fired
and missed. He reloaded to take an-
other shot and his gun jammed. The
jolting concussion started his nose
bleeding, He ran to a creek to get
some water to apply to his nose, trip-
ped and fell into the stream. Mean-
while, the deer strolled off . . . un-
dismayed by it all.

A hunting party which set out in
pursuit of deer along the Port Elgin
Lake Front, ran into unexpected good
fortune their first day Aside from
the fact that they bagged their fair
share of deer, they also brought down
a $50 prize timber wolf.
E, II, Duffy, Hanover, had the dis-
tinction of being the first Hanover
district hunter to Dag a deer this
year, The catch was a 225-pound, 12 1
point buck.

Florida's game commission appar-
ently has decided that there's a
strong tendency on the part of some
hunters to stretch the truth. As a
result, the commission is going to
demand exact proof that the state
nimrods are living up to bag limits.
With each hunting license, five tags
will be issued, two for deer and three
for wild turkey. The season's bag
limits. Each turkey and deer shot
