NiVornens' Missionary Society
Hold Remembrance Service
The November meeting of the Wo-
men's Missionary Society, United
Church was held at the Manse on
Friday afternoon. Mrs. D. 8. Mac-
Naughton, second vice-president was
In charge and gave the call to wor-
ship. Mrs. Jim Doig was at the piano
for opening quiet music. The meet-
ing was arranged by Mrs. A. 3.
Sanderson and Mrs. Harvey Timm,
The theme "We will remember them"
was as follows:
And some will see the poppies flam-
ing red
Beneath blue skies that lie across the
sea
And brave young souls made white
by sacrifice
The sacrifice by which the world is
free.
On Sunday, November 11th. we will
again celebrate Armistice Day. Across
the world hearts will again be touch-

tat with remembrance of the freedom
gained for us at so great a cost. Led
by comrades of the Legion, services
will be held at church and cenotaph.
Men and women will stand in the
cold of a November day, while hands
with iu t d r ums
hymns "0 Valiant Hearts" and "Abide
with Me", while men of the Air Force,
Army and Navy stand on guard.
There are those who will remember
the loneliness and separation of war,
the bitterness of defeat and the pun-
ishment of wrong doing and those
who will remember the victory and
return to loved ones at home. Each
will remember, in their own way,
their bitter or proud sorrow. Because
of so great a sacrifice, we still enjoy
peace and freedom in this land and
we are not separated from those we
love who are dear because through
Christ, love is stronger than death.
Today we will, above all, remember
the death upon the cross of Christ
our Saviour, that through faith, we
• can have hope of eternal life, It is
the privilege of members of the wo-
men's missionary society to hold the
cross of Christ, so that men and wo-
men all over the world may look into
the future with faith and hope and
find that peace which passeth all
understanding.
Mrs. Timm gave the scripture and
commentary choosing Psalm 42. Mrs.
A. S. Sanderson led in prayer. Mem-
bers renewed subscriptions for the
Missionary Monthly and also put'-
, chased United Church calendars for
the coming year.
Announcement was made of the
