ment announcement of Miss Phyllis
Wightman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Jas, Wightman of Listowel and form-
erly of Belgrave, whose marriage to
Mr. Clarence Courtney Holmes, will
take place in Listowel United Church
on Saturday, August 25. Miss Wight-
man has been a Victorian Order Pub-
lic Health nurse at Wolf ville, N.S. for
the past year, and her fiance is a
graduate of Dalhousie University,
Halifax, where he received the degree
of Bachelor of Commerce,

the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ewart

Mason, spent Sunday in Goderich.
Mrs, Albert Bieman went through
an operation for appendicitis in Wing-
ham Hospital last Monday, and was
able to return home on Sunday.

and Allen of Clifford, visited on Sun-
day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Bieman.
Mrs. Catherine Maltby, Lucknow,
and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Lowry and

er spent last week at the home of
Mr. Duncan Simpson of Kintail.

ball game with The King and his
Court in Lucknow, on Monday even-

visited over the week-end at the home
of Mr. and Mrs, James Falconer.

spent the week-end with his parents,

Jean Burchill spent a few days last
week at London and Port Stanley.
Mr. Dan Tiffin was a patient in
Wingham Hospital last week after an
operation there,
Mr. Nat Thomson accompanied
Capt. De Vries of the Salvation Army
of Kitchener to Niagara and Buffalo,
over the week-end.
The Johnston family held their an-
nual reunion on Sunday, August 19,
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Ireland, of East Wawanosh, with
an attendance of over one hundred.
Relatives came from Windsor, St.
Thomas, London, Toronto, Cooksville,
Bayfield, Goderich, Teeswater, with
Mr, and Mrs. Russell Ireland coming
f rem Launa Beach, California. Plans
were made for the 1952 get-together
to be held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon McBurney, with Mr.
Elgin Johnston of Toronto as presi-
dent, and Mrs. Joe Kerr, Wingham,
secretary.
Miss Dianne and James Johnston
of Cooksville, are staying for a few
days this week with Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Ireland.

Trousseau Tea
For Bride=Elect
On Wednesday afternoon and even-
ing, Mrs. Rowland Ballagh, held a
trouseau tea in honour of her
daughter, Mildred, whose marriage
took place Saturday. The guests
were received by the bride's mother
and the bride, assisted by the groom's
mother in the afternoon.
The gifts and trousseau were dis-
played by Misses Velma Ballagh and
Mary Bronson, Mrs. Elmet Jeffrey,
and Mrs. Alan Darling,
iv During the afternoon tea was pour-
ed by Mrs. Harry Gowdy, Mrs, Roy
Gowdy, Mrs, Stanley Wolfe, and Mrs.
Ted Bronson, In the evning Mrs.
Jack Fergusin and Mrs. Waited Bal-

presented her with two pictures of

very interesting talks on "Let's Get
Acquainted with the CO.I.T." The
ladies of the W.M.S. are asked to
bring good used clothing to the church
on August 26 for the bale, and answer
the roll-call of the next meeting with
an article for the bale for Korea. Mrs.
Shiell closed the meeting with the
benediction.

The marriage of Miss Mildred jean
Moore, youngest daughter of Mr, and
Mrs. Arthur Moore, of West Wawa-
nosh, and Mr. Kenneth Murray Dick-
son, son of Mr. and Mrs, James B.
Dickson, of Delmore, was solemnized
at the manse, Whitechurch, on Satur-
day, August 11th., with Rev. R, D. A.
Currie officiating. Miss Mildred Jack-
lyn, Wingham, and Mr, George A,
Dickson, brother of the groom, were
the attendants. The wedding dinn'er
was served to immediate relatives at
the home of the bride's parents, and
the happy couple left on a motor trip
to Eastern points. They will reside in
Belmore, The best wishes of their
many friends in this community, fol-
low them to their new home.
