be spent in the right way in small

On Sunday, July 29th., eboitt fifty

i home of gr. and Mrs. Milton Wet-
* eon, Gorrie, on the occasion of their
1 DOth wedding anniversary. All the
children and grandchildren were pre-
! pent except the younger daughter,
Isabel, who passed away eight years
I, ago. Mr, and Mrs. Watson were mar-
! reed at Brussels and lived in and

'i their married life. They moved to
f Gorrie thirty-one years ago and have
2 lived here ever since, Their health
I is fairly good and both are aetive and
i able to carry on their daily work.
i The happy couple wish to thank
i their family and friends for the many
i beautiful gifts, cards and flowers re-
ceived on this, their fiftieth wedding

anniversary. Among other gifts were
two occasional 'chairs and a dozen
i lovely yellow roses from the family.

f will take the form of a picnic in the
Community Park on Tuesday after-
noon, at 2.30 p,rria August 7th. The

with the Sr. Institute at the picnic

Surprise Party
A surprise birthday party was held
on Sunday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Vie Shera, Moorefield for the
former's faher Mr. Jim Shera who
marked his 81st birthday on Wednes-
day, July 25th. About 25 relatives
and friends were in attendance. We
would join in wishing Mr, Shera
many happy returns of the day. He
is very active for his years, working
every day in his blaeksmith shop,
Mr. and Mrs. C. O'Krafka and
Tom; Mr. and Mrs. M. Irwin and
Don; Mr. and Mrs. Andy Edgar,
Sandra, Patsy Harris, Mrs, John
Koch and baby accompanied Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Hastie to Port Elgin,
Sunday.
United Church News
Rev. Stanley Johnston of' Thames-
ford, who is well known in this
district, having spent his youth here,
occupied the pulpit on Sunday morn-
ing, Mr. Johnston spoke of the many
changes here in the past 42 years
since he left to enter the ministry.
His text was taken from Exodus 3:4
"God called unto him out of the
midst of the hush and said 'Moses,
Moses' and he said 'Here am I.'
Telling how God called all great men,
Abraham, Isaac and „Jacob he said
we are each different and so God
calls us to individual tasks. Harvey
Sperling and Harold Robinson sang a
duet "Alone".
